Johnny Winter, Blues Star, Is Dead at 70

Johnny Winter, the Texas blues icon, died in Zurich, Switzerland on Wednesday at the age of 70.

The star guitaristóRolling Stone named him one of the 100 best everówas playing till the end, performing his last gig in Austria on Saturday. Since his self-titled album was released in 1969, Winter has recorded and produced dozens of albums of classic rock and blues, including several with his childhood idol Muddy Winters.
Gonna miss that guy. One of my favorites. Last night I played in Pinehurst Texas, and we did Meantown Blues by Johnny Winter. Got home after the gig to find out that rumors were flying about Winters' death. Not long after that, it was confirmed.

RIP, Johnny. You changed the lives of many aspiring blues players.

He and I appeared in the same issue of Tattoo magazine. Still have it.
Didn't meet him, but listened to his music for years.
    RIP.
Sadly all the good ones are getting older and very few left that I would pay to see. Still pissed that I missed Dick Dale come local about 2 months ago.

Thank you. I am truly saddened by this news. Johnny Winter was one of the best blues players in my opinion. I believe I will listen to "Blues to the Bone" in honor of his passing.

Awww..... He was from my neck of the woods. So sorry he's gone. He gigged up to the last minute too.
