Top Marine to Obama: Get in the Fight

Someone clearly doesnt understand the recent history of the withdrawal process that happened in 2008-2011..

So many things for these guys to stand up to Obama about. Where have they been for the past six years?

Wait I thought y'all hated Amos. Mostly for being an Obama shill and not being Mattis. Oh and for the whole putting females in combat roles experiment thing.

Now he criticizes Obama and all of a sudden "we should have more senior officers like him."

keeping their jobs.

speaking out is likely to get you gone.

he's retiring, so he has nothing to lose.

I know that, but I think they remained silent while too much has been lost in the past six years.

Nope just another in a long line of cowards who ring and run.....I guess when you are retiring you can attack your boss and of course he is auditioning to lie on Fox News.

coward?

he's not the kind of Officer I prefer ( flyboys are very different leaders than grunts), but he's definitely no coward.

Its funny you call it a "withdrawal process" when it was a simple surrender, capitulation and walk away from victory handing victory to those we most wanted defeated. Just like we did in WWI and for it our world saw WWII....but alas the left can't bother to study history can it? I guess history lessons get into the way of "gender studies" and "underwaterbasketweaving."

The Iraq story was never an accomplishment or a victory. And people elected Obama to (amongst other reasons) get us the hell out of Iraq.

Amos should be fired! You guys didn't like it when top brass spoke out against Bush. And just because he "thinks" IS would never have come to power, doesn't mean they wouldn't have, and amongst other reasons, Obama was elected to get us out of Iraq.

did you like it when top generals spoke out against Bush?

if Bush signed the withdrawal orders, which he certainly did, why did we elect Obama to get us out of Iraq?

Yes I did. I would also have no problem with top brass speaking out against Obama. I want them to challenge a president on such things. That said, in this particular case, I think what Amos is saying is wrong! As you can see right here on this board, there isn't much GOP support for withdrawing from Iraq, and Obama is being hugely criticised for it. Nevertheless, it can't be known that had a republican won the election that he would have withdrawn. Anyway, significant numbers of Americans were sick of Iraq, wanted out and felt that Obama would do it. Took a little longer than we would have liked, but.

We had a plan in place to leave. We didn't want to be there, and they didn't want us there. Your definition of "surrender" differs from any other I've ever seen, which probably means your definition is wrong.

Then who ever made that plan, and obama carried it out, was wrong. They are ignorant of history and are condemned to repeat it - like you.

The American people wisely want nothing to do with war in the Middle East. Lets keep it that way. The military is often like a kid who simply has toys they want to play with. One way to avoid that is not keep giving them so many new toys.

well, I don't agree with Amos, but I don't think he's wrong.... it's his job to speak for his Marines... Marines who, by and large, aren't too peachy about watching us throw Iraq to the jihadist assholes.
I have 2 Iraqi vets ( son and godson) sitting in my living room right now that agree with him... they're pissed that their hard fought gains are being pissed away.

they would hate it if I were calling the shots.. but that's neither here nor there.

I got a flash for you...we have 1000 troops there now and counting.
