Here's one, there's plenty more, too.

The era of CIA-supported coups dawned in dramatic fashion: An American general flies to Iran and meets with "old friends"; days later, the Shah orders Prime Minister Mohammed Mossadegh to step down. When the Iranian military hesitates, millions of dollars are funneled into Tehran to buy off Mossadegh's supporters and finance street protests. The military, recognizing that the balance of power has shifted, seizes the prime minister, who will live the rest of his life under house arrest. It was, as one CIA history puts it, "an American operation from beginning to end," and one of many U.S.-backed coups to take place around the world during the second half of the 20th century.

Hey I'm not gonna argue there isn't hypocrisy there. My point though is that when it happened with Egypt, there was a lot of word games going on. If they recognized it as a coup, then they would be forced to cut off aid. As I recall, there was some might fine tip toeing going on at the time. Here's what I'm talking about:

A Coup? Or Something Else? $1.5 Billion in U.S. Aid Is on the Line

In his only public statement since Mr. Morsi’s ouster, Mr. Obama carefully avoided using the “c-word,” as some in Washington termed it, although his description of events certainly sounded couplike. But aides made clear that he would escalate his response depending on where the Egyptian military went from here.

I don't disagree BH. Your point is on. It's when you invoked LAW, as requiring the US to do (or preventing the US from doing) something that you struck my funny bone. How many examples and conflicts and decades must pass before everyone realises the obvious. That international law (or our own constitution) is intermittently relevant based upon our interests in a region. And regardless of what you think of yourself, those "interests" are almost never yours, defend them as you will.
