Ku Klux Klan Passing out Candy

Son of a bitch I wish they would have come to the part of SC I am in when I was home. I just want to ask them the hell is wrong with them.

Oh, I thought this thread was about Sheila Jackson Lee passing out Loli Pops to the illegal alien children.

You know, because the Ku Klux Clan is a historically DEMOCRAT organization.

And in the same time, the south voted overwhelmingly democrat, what's your point?

Nope. The title says "Ku Klux Klan Passing Out Candy" - perhaps you should wear glasses, read slower, or better improve your comprehension. Are you dyslexic?

Oh don't be so defensive.

It was a honest mistake that anyone could make. Well, anyone who had a firm grasp on the History of the Democrat party.

The KKK passed out candy in South Carolina. Residents found bags of sweets outside their homes with a Cute little paper that read "Save our land. Join the Klan"

Soooo what? The Klan was being nice to people and passing out sweets. I mean how many people are going to be moved to join the Klan because they gave out candy 1 or 2 if that? Really this is a non story. I suspect there are not that many people who want to be Klan members, even in South Carolina.

Lol the Klan member who verified that it was them said they get 20,000 calls as a result of their national recruitment event.

Sure and I have a bridge in Brooklyn, NY for sale cheap. I don't know if anyone's noticed but the Klan's reputation aint exactly stellar.

The Ku Klux Klowns are pro-big government, too.

"What would you do for a klandyke bar?"

What's the "democrat" party?

The KKK is a historically conservative organization. Most southern conservatives were Democrats until the 1970s. Now, most are Republicans.

Oh you remember, the same Democrat party that Filibustered the 1964 voting rights act,.

The same one that was behind the Jim Crow laws.

Ring a bell ?

Support for the 1964 CRA was divided by geographic lines, not party lines.

Northern Ds and Rs voted overwhelmingly for it, Southern Ds and Rs voted nearly unanimously against it.

Sure, but it's historically ALWAYS been a CONSERVATIVE organisation...

I love it when people call it the "Democrat" (sic) party. Identifies a blind partisan quicker and more accurately than just about anything else a person can do. Very helpful.

The next best way is linking the Democratic party to the opposition to CRA, Jim Crow, etc.

And you got them both in one post, which is outstanding! :applaud

Oh yeah, bad policy those both were, however I do believe that it was the Democratic Party, owning to the fact that there is no such thing as a democrat party.

Won't help them much. The Klan has become very unpopular in most of SC in the past couple decades.

It was a pretty big deal when I was a kid, actually, but nowadays the SC Klan could barely field a softball team, and most people think they're a joke.

House of Representatives:

Senate

Now further parse that by region and watch the difference.

But this tells the real story: From wiki Civil Rights Act of 1964 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The original House version:

Southern Democrats: 7–87 (7–93%)
Southern Republicans: 0–10 (0–100%)
Northern Democrats: 145–9 (94–6%)
Northern Republicans: 138–24 (85–15%)

The Senate version:

Southern Democrats: 1–20 (5–95%) (only Ralph Yarborough of Texas voted in favor)
Southern Republicans: 0–1 (0–100%) (John Tower of Texas)
Northern Democrats: 45–1 (98–2%) (only Robert Byrd of West Virginia voted against)
Northern Republicans: 27–5 (84–16%)

It was probably the SPLC or ADL passing out the candy and flyers for fund raising purposes.......
