Indiana won't recognize same-sex marriages

We'll simply have to disagree. When I see and experience something, a political website isn't about to convince me I neither saw it nor experienced it.

Do you think that's how liberals perceive their own values?

The article in the OP makes it very clear that Indiana's ultimate position has yet to be decided by a higher court. That was why the appeals court stayed the decision. You do that when you know there will be an appeal higher up and don't want contradictory rulings to be in effect. No court is upholding SSM bans. More interesting is Utah's appeal. We may really get a supreme court ruling soon to protect SSM for the entire country... though I'm sure the court will find a way to kick it back down. Either way, it is extremely unlikely that the "worm" is, in fact, turning.

Sounds like your kind of bigots. I think you should move there.

That is why you leffties are so clueless......Because someone does not want the definition of marriage changed in your narrow mind they are a bigot...........sad.

I'll keep it civil and refuse to take a bite of your juicy bait.

Well, since you won't discuss how wrong your perception is, I'll respond in kind.

Conservatives support the individual liberty to do only the things conservatives support. Anything else, they want a giant government to step in. They want taxes to be low as possible, but only for the wealthy. They believe the wealthy are supermen to be worshipped, inherently superior beings. They believe every poor person is poor because they are lazy and inferior. Conservatives believe the magic fairy of the free market solves all problems, so any problem that exists must be the fault of government. Starved to death in the streets? Sorry, the market did that so it must have been the right thing. Conservatives believe government can only restrict freedom, never supporting it. Then they'll turn around and worship soldiers for protecting their freedom. But only by words, **** doing anything to actually support our troops after they come home. Conservatives love freedom, but only for conservatives. Too many democrats get elected? Well, let's talk about taking away the vote from the poor. Or just straight overthrowing the government. Because if democracy doesn't do what you want, just end democracy. Thankfully, it's all talk. They'll never actually DO anything.

Free speech is wonderful, isn't it. Feel better now?

Ahh, my other favorite of conservatives. The idea that free speech means freedom from criticism. Check my signature for that one.

It's not standard partisan hack hyperbole if it's true.

Generalizing all liberals is just as stupid as saying all conservatives are bible-tumping, gay haters.

Sorry, where did I suggest any such thing? Seems to me your posts were the ones that displayed a certain level of butt hurt related to perceived criticism.

Where did I generalize all liberals? That suggests an unfounded personal comment. I simply posted what I see as the liberal approach to government. Can you deny or belie any of the approaches to government I attributed to liberals?

You didn't say any such thing. I was just reminded by your post of the other thing that conservatives do.

That's fair - I have no problem with being criticized or people disagreeing with me. If I did, I wouldn't spend time on a political debate site.

And you notice I didn't claim your perceptions about conservatives were wrong, as you did with mine. I don't think anyone's perceptions are wrong - they are based on their own experiences and exposure and perhaps a certain level of preconceived expectations that slant those views. It's good to have other people voice their views/perceptions of you sometimes - can help keep you honest to yourself.

You are right, the gays will twist the laws and work the system and scream discrimination at the top of their little lungs and stamp their feet till they get their way.

Bet you also hated when those darm blacks stamped their feet too.

Umm...here?

Liberals, on the other hand, believe that taxes should be as high as possible so that government can interfere in the daily lives of citizens, can pick winners and losers, can bribe citizens with their own money for their votes, and can fund their pet projects and cronies through kickbacks.

Keep swinging that dead cat. It don't fly.

Keep telling yourself that. You look no different than those that were against interracial marriage.

LOL....the bigots of the 1950's said the same thing about minorities. Bigots will be bigots despite what the laws say. As America progresses towards freedom and equality for all, there will always be the few narrow-minded folk that refuse to believe that others are entitled to the same rights and privileges as them. Nothing new.

Why are you OK NP about the definition changing when it was changed to fit your "marriage", yet you cannot allow others the same? That is the epitome of hypocrisy and bigotry. Sorry....it just is.

I don't agree with what's going on here. If they issued the licenses? They ought to honor them. Period.

Weren't they issued because a judge stepped in and halted the law?

If this is an indication of anything it's probably an indication that legislating from the bench is a really, really bad idea.

Just keep trying to catch up to the civil rights train. Its done past years ago.

It wasn't because of a new state law, but a wonderful bit of judicial activism.

why is it judicial activism??????? It was interpreting a law and was in line with dozens of other court rulings.

Oh and was the Hobby Lobby case activism...if not why not?

Oh, now its interracial marriage. The SSM issue cant stand on its own so you coat tail it on other issues. Proof its meritless.
