It is almost certain that the timing is no coincidence. But whether it was the BND trying to create a subterfuge or the government for some yet unknown reason or Putin weighing in is impossible to say.

what is disturbing is how poorly the US is playing the thing.

More on this ongoing issue.....which now BO and his team says it was the CIA that brought this about. What say ye?

German leader: US spy reports serious if true.....

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Monday that if reports that a German intelligence employee spied for the United States are proven true, it would be a "clear contradiction" of trust between the allies.

German prosecutors say the man is suspected of handing over 218 documents between 2012 and 2014. German media, without naming sources, have reported he was an employee of Germany's foreign intelligence service who says he sold his services to the U.S.

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said if the allegations of U.S. involvement were true, the case could change the routine for the two countries in unspecified ways.....snip~

The German Federal Prosecutor's office said in a statement that a 31-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of being a foreign spy, but it gave no further details. Investigations were continuing, it said.

The case risks further straining ties with Washington, which were damaged by revelations last year of mass surveillance of German citizens by the U.S. National Security Agency, including the monitoring of Chancellor Angela Merkel's mobile phone.

The man, who is German, has admitted passing to an American contact details about a special German parliamentary committee set up to investigate the spying revelations made by former U.S. intelligence contractor Edward Snowden, the politicians said.

Both lawmakers are members of the nine-person parliamentary control committee, whose meetings are confidential, and which is in charge of monitoring the work of German intelligence agencies.....snip~

It appears we will be having some more trouble with Germany. They have summoned the US Ambassador to give a swift explanation. Even though they state he is suspected. I think once he admitted to any connection.....puts him past just being suspected of anything. What say ye?
An even further erosion of a relationship with a close ally. It's this American exceptionalist bull**** that pisses me off. Why is it that we feel that we have to be the master manipulators of the world and put our fingers in EVERYTHING?

Mornin RA. Hard to believe isn't it.....also Team BO says this was a Standard Op with CIA. Yet they the Germans, busted this guy going to the Russians. Which now they have him saying 218 documents was passed to our people.

I think we are past the Germans saying If it is discovered. Looks like this guy is singing his heart out. Wonder if they will point out what he was trying to do with the Russians.

Exclusive: CIA had role in Germany spy affair.....

The Central Intelligence Agency was involved in a spying operation against Germany that led to the alleged recruitment of a German intelligence official and has prompted renewed outrage in Berlin, two U.S. officials familiar with the matter said on Monday.

CIA Director John Brennan has asked to brief key members of the U.S. Congress on the matter, which threatens a new rupture between Washington and a close European ally, one of the officials said.

The U.S. officials who confirmed the CIA's role spoke on condition of anonymity, and offered no further details.....snip~

Iraq has totally left the news. This didn't pop up in the top 5 news stories this morning. Scary.

Not unusual at all. Cheney has kept his mouth shut, the president has made his moves. We just had a long weekend with the United States not being involved in the goings on in Iraq and having ISIS or IS as they want to be called now taking over another village or two is not new news. All it will take if for Cheney or McCain to open their mouth again or the president to do something towards Iraq and it will be back up there as number one again.

All I can say, is appreciate the lull.
This Reform Party member thinks it is high past time that we start electing Americans to congress and the presidency who put America first and their political party further down the line. But for way too long we have been electing Republicans and Democrats who happen to be Americans instead of Americans who happen to be Republicans and Democrats.

Though, I doubt it, there was some indication in German radio that the man might be a plant or a dumb dumb that the agencies did not think very important. That is not, however, the line the present official line, which says friendship is at risk and/or the Americans don't think Germany is a friend. The politicians and public are also acting as if this were surprising Germany being the reliable friend it has always been and proof that they must re-gauge the US relationship.

Mornin BS ......not really. I have been catching it all coming in over the wire and with any Hot news.

The bad news is.....they walked away from another parliamentary meeting with no other to be set up until August. Which means things will stand as they are. As for the rest.....the Iraqis are digging in.
