Protesters block buses carrying undocumented immigrants in California

the two remain very different, actually
the employer who moves for lower costs of labor does so legally. our nation has no right to deprive him of that border crossing

the employee comes here illegally in search of work. our country has an authority to deprive him of that employment. whether we have the will to exercise that authority is central to this discussion

We certainly can regulate offshoring. We just don't.

When I see real efforts to go after those who employ them instead of messages designed to make people angry and hateful towards their fellow man I'll take the issue more seriously.

Obscene fines with bounties.

Tariffs and duties and whatnot. Taxation.

They can simply leave, but access to our markets can be controlled as well as benefits that come from being based here.

Not sure where we're not communicating.

I believe the recent influx of illegals is an orchestrated event by the left, which includes the Obama Administration.

LOL....because there have never been an "illegal immigration" problem before Obama. Wow....are you people serious? Sometimes I wonder if the personas are all caricatures. Doh!

Your witnessing an unprecedented hatred of one man. US borders have always been porous, and no administration, nor any congress has ever really done anything to change that, here's why,

Frank Keating, head of the American Bankers Association, has finally come clean about big business' ultimate immigration reform goal — totally open borders with the unrestricted movement of millions of foreign workers into the United States.

And both parties pander to big business.

Easy...tariff the hell out of any and all products manufactured overseas by American companies for resale in America.

you asked...

Of course we can add tariffs

And of course we would have to add them to ALL imports

It would make USA products more competitive, but it would also raise prices accross the board

But it also means other countries can add tariffs to our products....and that hurts our exporters, especially farmers

The question is do we want to piss off our trade partners?

So do the illegals.

And they offshored for cheap labor, the regulation and tax thing simply doesn't measure up to 32 semi skilled laborers for 14-16 hrs/day out the door for what one burger flipper gets here for eight (plus labor burden). A whole factory's worth of labor for what they pay one here.

They did it the second it became technologically feasible.

it doesn't matter why they come here the fact is we have laws that say they are not allowed to be here. we do not have laws that say companies can't go where they want to go.

Why is immigration so hard to figure out. Secure the border but relax some of the legal means of entry.

you asked...
but it is not an American company
it is a international company

what you are proposing is to initiate a trade war with countries which host frms manufacturing/processing goods that may have the USA as one of its market destinations

the next response, from china, et al, is to add similar tariffs to goods processed in the USA with ultimate sale in their nations

is this really yours and what if's solution to our illegal immigration problem?

No...the solution to the immigration problem is even easier. Fine the hell out of employers that hire undocumented illegal immigrants, imprison for second offense. Deport all the criminal scumbag types. Truly secure the borders. And this may shock you, but I am for creating some sort of pathway to citizenship for those already here.

As for 'trade wars'...nah...no trade wars. I'd say we should implement and follow to the letter fair trade agreements with foreign countries. They should have as much fair access to our markets as our manufacturers are allowed their markets. Countries like South Korea for example would not be allowed to import a single Kia or Hyundai until their markets are opened fairly to US auto manufacturers.

Try to keep up DD. The conversation is way past your comprehension at this point. Relevancy is a not an unusual requirement for posters who want to be taken seriously. I guess some don't.

Seems like your "comprehension" is in another realm somewhere. Seriously....."Thanks Obama".....do you think Obama is responsible for all of the "illegal immigration" that preceded him....or do you honestly believe there was no problem? I'm trying to understand the psychology of what goes on in the brains of people who actually buy into this stuff.

No, what we're witnessing is a unprecedented level of hypocrisy, as Bush haters selectively ignore the last 8 years under a Republican president who was called every name in the book.

Would it kill you to be honest ?

Thanks for the effort, but yes I will have it my way, as I see a much bigger picture at play. You're seeing just Big Business, I'm suggesting it goes way beyond that.

The World Economic Forum

I never said that there weren't other interests that want open borders ocean! However, Big business is the BIGGEST factor between us having secured vs unsecured borders.

I don't know about calling Obama every name in the book, but I have been equally critical of him. There are partisan lefties that are hypocritical, but that's not me.

Interesting. I'm trying to understand the psychology of what goes into the brains of people who can't read or comprehend, but pretend they can.

Also, I'm curious about people who seem to want to excel at irrelevancy. Perhaps for some, that's a lofty goal.

As a gift, may I offer the relevant fact that the conversation has not excluded immigration failures during previous administrations, but has correctly identified Obama's obsession with upping the immigration failure ante today.

You're welcome.

I have provided links to indicate that your conclusion is not entirely true. Read more about the World Economic Forum, it's members, missions, and actions. It's way beyond just Big Business. It's about who controls Big Business.

For example:

I do not understand how every single American - conservative or liberal, Democrat or Republican, black or white, male or female, straight or gay, north and south - can't be completely and unequivocally against this mass immigration effort by Obama and his kind.

It will change America forever in a horrific way for EVERYBODY, no matter where you stand politically or otherwise.

because those on the left and liberal sides are betting that EVENTUALLY all these people become voters in their favor

it really is that simple

Your criticisms of Bush are based on left sing false narratives.

" Lies '' and what not.

We actually have a liar for a President now. A real liar.

And Nox you haven't been " equally critical " of Obama.

Who will come in, take their jobs, and make their lives worse. You think the black unemployment rate is high now? Wait until they let 20 million immigrants into the U.S. and let them vote. The rate will balloon to 50 percent.

You look at CNN.com today and for the past week, and you'd barely know anything is even going on. You have to dig a while.

I can't believe you have the audacity to come in here and say that Bush wasn't a liar! That's yours dude.

That's nonsense. It's as easy and legitimate to claim that the reason right wingers are opposed to immigration is they know all 'those' people will become democratic voters.

Besides, like on most issues, the left liberals etc. are divided on the issue. Thom Hartmann is a liberal radio host, probably the most listened to, and he'd like a closed border and effective ways for employers to verify status, so employers can't use illegals to drive down wages for working Americans. I agree with him.
