Once upon a time, these people wouldn't have been illegals, they would have been fed directly into the legal program, they would have stayed, or returned seasonally based on their own plans, generate some business as they worked here, and that would have been that. The Economic order goes on as it should.
Today, we have an economically disruptive system, one that categorically disallows people from coming here, not because they are violent, not because they are terrorists, not because they're ne'er do wells or seek welfare, but simply because they're low-skilled, and aren't from here.
If you are low skilled, and have no relatives living in the United States, you have no chance of coming here. There is no line for you, and you will simply be turned away.
Most immigrants fall into this category, so either they become illegals, or they don't come. That's the choice we've put in front of them.
Additionally, for High Skilled immigrants there is a shallow pool. 85,000 H1-B visas, 225,000 applicants a year. They go virtually within the first day. To assign them, the visas are put into a lottery.
That is our Government, turning away the next Elon Musk, the next Sergey Brin, the next Ajay Bhatt-led, simply because we didn't make enough visas to meet the demand. We are turning away growth & opportunity, and allowing ourselves to be technologically out-paced, because of a short-sighted, disruptive policy, written by Labor Unions.
It's nonsense. It doesn't make us richer, it makes us poorer. It doesn't make us safer, it makes immigration illicit. Worthy of nothing but contempt.
Obviously, you're wrong. The invasion of illegal aliens from failed countries has had a massive detrimental impact on our economy here. It's contribution to our economic challenges can be correlated to this huge influx.

What you describe from before changed when the legal migrants decided not to return to their countries as they had before. Once they learned they could stay and extract more treasure from this country, they came in massive waves. Every illegal is a net drain on the economy, burning through multiples of economic output in return for a grain of economic input. As a Nation, we learned very long ago that our future depended on a sound immigration policy which sought to control. Not every failure culture can be accommodated here. Not even our own.

If one is low skilled, and has no relatives here, they have not business coming here illegally. The Elon Musks of the world will always find a way. The self centered illegal peasant should not.

I've seen it. They had lookouts at frequent intervals, and something most don't know, it is booby trapped in case anyone ever got up on it. It is even booby trapped to rid someone on a horse. I agree with the person below who said an unwatched fence would be ineffective. But what the hell is working about our current system. Do you not think that what is happening now will cost the US taxpayers far more than it would cost to build an effective guarded Great Wall type of fence? Factor in all the diseases they are bringing in, including TB, and then divide that by our already overburdened foster care system. The article I posted, I believe, says that we will be getting 120 every 72 hours. Does anyone on here do math? Does the president ****ing do math? It would not seem so.

I didn't have tremendous problem with adults coming here to actually work. But sending children in diapers is equivalent to an act of war against our system.

I've posted some of it. Nobody should require more evidence than what is already quite easy to view. Given the resounding welcome from the left, along with the open arms of people like Pelosi and other radicals, it's all quite out in the open.

wage suppression is a bigger issue. as lou dobbs said you use to earn about 15 bucks in a meat packing plant. now due to low skilled workers that rate has dropped to 8 or 9 dollars.

    Links then?

Otherwise I'm certainly not accepting, "it's obvious." Because it's not.

If asked, it seems the majority of people have little problem with legal immigration. That's reasonable. Frankly, it should be hard to get here. There is a reason the US rose from nothing to World leader in less than 250 years.

However, this latest invasion is an act of war of the kind you imply. This is a foreign invasion being encouraged by the Obama Administration and it's backers and supporters. The implications behind it's effort are alarming.

How so? they pay into our system. They buy gas or travel on buses that pay for their gas with the fares the immigrants pay for. They pay property and sales tax. They even pay for our military, because virtually everything in our Government today is borrowing against the SS trust fund, which illegals at a rate of 3 to 1 contribute to.
But let's be honest here: the free rider effect to some degree is a given. Half of Americans don't pay the same Federal Taxes most immigrants don't. This isn't a problem with them, it's a problem with the system. Ilegal immigration only got out of hand once we abandoned Eisenhower's policies, and adopted ones being put forth by the AFL-CIO. So the fix is simple. Return to Eisenhower. economically wrong headed. Labor just like the other factor of production, Capital, must reach equilibrium, people must move from low producing countries to high producing ones. We have seen the mobility of Capital in our Globalized economy, investors overseas, and foreign companies setting up shop in the U.S. and vice versa. Labor must now follow, and it will do so whether it has our permission or not.
No Civil Law system, no political institution on Earth is stronger than the laws of Supply & Demand, they permeate through all. They are an irrevocable part of human nature.

What is ignored by supporters of illegal aliens is the coordinated hiring effort that occurs on the shop floor. I've been fighting it here in Southern California for decades.

First a Spanish speaking worker gets promoted into a position of authority. Then they start hiring their Spanish speaking friends and relatives. Over a relatively short period of time, the entire shop floor becomes Spanish speaking, and communication between workers from different ethic backgrounds becomes almost impossible. I call it "spanification" of the workforce. One way I protect against this type of activity is to move managers around frequently, and to make sure the compensation is high enough to attract quality long term workers.

Convenient to whip up security and "MY TAXES" fears around election time, wouldn't you say? Get some more votes, maintain power, continue status quo.
