No! It's not just your opinion, it may be one that you only developed recently, but I've felt that way since Bush 1. But then US foreign policy has interests that differ from yours and mine, and they quite well differ from the citizens of the ME, obviously.

When Bush first went into Iraq I was working as a Department of the Army Civilian at Ft. McPherson. 3rd Army or ARCENT (army central command) was headquartered there. I was against and didn't particular care for the invasion, but like all good military people, active duty and civilian did my best to ensure the success of the operation. Once the decision was made, personal feeling went out the window. Now I am retired and what looked so promising back then, even a couple of years ago has turned into horse manure. I was also happy to get all the troops out.

I do think it is time for Miliki and his government to either sink or swim on his own or with Iranian, Russian and Syrian help. But not ours. Yes that is a relatively new position for me.
This Reform Party member thinks it is high past time that we start electing Americans to congress and the presidency who put America first and their political party further down the line. But for way too long we have been electing Republicans and Democrats who happen to be Americans instead of Americans who happen to be Republicans and Democrats.
