This story about the Grassley email is new, pete. And no, I can't stomach any of Media Matters' ragings. They are hyper-partisan. And are also always coming to Obama's defense.

So, you want to stick your head in the sand? They are partisan, but they don't lie, they give reasonable responses backed up with links.

Give me a non-partisan source, pete. I wouldn't expect you to look at something from WMD or Hannity. Don't expect me to read trash from MM, which is a partisan hack site.

The Grassley story is brand new. And Media Matters can spin it all they want, and try to make it partisan all they want, and bitch because Fox jumped on it, or whetever. Irrelevant. This is about Lerner, and also about potential abuse of IRS power. Nothing more, nothing less.

How about the email exchange from the Ways and Means Committee?

What about it? It's the same email string we're discussing in this thread.

Is this the one where we got the copy to Grassley? Did he get one to me? Looked like they were inappropriately offering to pay for his wife. Perhaps we should refer to Exam?
She was asking a question, not making a recommendation.

And? She suggested referring to Exam, and Matthew pointed out to her that he didn't think they should.

Don't be naive. If even a low level IRS agent and you were talking and they dropped the line "Perhaps we should refer pbrauer to exam" what would you think?

And what was the response to her?

Come on Pete, the first thing that comes to her mind is to audit the guy? Please, she wasn't asking a question, she was asking permission.

You need to send a note to Markos Moulitsas and tell him you need re-training.

How does that thought match the title of the AP story? It doesn't. Be sides her question wasn't out of the blue. She wrote: Looked like they were inappropriately offering to pay for his wife. Perhaps we should refer to Exam? She worked for the IRS, that's the way they think.
