And spare me your argument that even though the country was founded by christians and the entire population was christian that somehow the founding fathers were not religious and were in no way influenced by christian values. It's not possible to any reasonable person who can read a history book.
The problem with this argument is that it assumes that our most important values are Christian. They aren't. Even if you can show that Christianity shared some of our most important values, it does not prove that they are solely Christian values. That those values would not exist without Christianity or Christian influence.

The only people that give a **** whether he goes to church or not are those who also go to church. Those would be mostly whack job righties who call themselves Christians.

While polls suggest that social conservatives are losing their fight against gay marriage, Republican officials across the political spectrum concede that evangelical Christian voters continue to play a critical role in Republican politics.

"You can ignore them, but you do so at our own peril," said Republican operative Hogan Gidley, who has worked for former presidential candidates Rick Santorum and Mike Huckabee.
Is this a plea to the President or to the GOP? Seems GOP voter sure did ignore both Santorum and Huckabee.
It's a rallying cry to the Evangelical wing of the Republican base that has its roots in the Bible Belt of the deep south. However, that doesn't mean that the U.S. as a whole hasn't lost touch with its religious convictions. Problem here is how do you reconcile "religious tolerance" with the morality of man's laws in a predominately Christian nation?

Sure it does...the "pursuit of happiness" and "equal protection" under the law. This is where Right-Wing Evangelicals mess up in their attempts to politic from the pulpit. You alienate "everybody else" who may be decent people, but perhaps not be deeply religious or people who may not share the same religious beliefs as you. It's not the President's job to raise one religion over another. However, he should reiterate that this nation has its founding based on "divine providence", that although we're all free to worship as we please, we should never forget that in the design of man and this great nation there is a higher power that reigns supreme over all.

Do you have a link to that?

Excuse me to trouble you for a link to that but so many Leftists are full of crap that it's always wise to provide evidence to support their generally wacky beliefs.

Obama spent 20 years in a Christian Church studying the preachings and praying along with Reverend Wright. He must have picked up some beliefs during that period.

Leftists tend to be rather dimwitted so it's hard to tell when they are trying to be funny, being sarcastic or are just uninformed. Facts are not their friends.

    Maybe that is sarcastic.

It makes a big difference. This is why cults are not allowed. Think Jim Jones and every other religious nut job who convinced people to take their life via mass suicide and you have you'll understand that calling out false prophets does matter a great deal.
