We have Captured one of the Terrorist Ring-leaders in the Benghazi attack that killed Stevens. This is the guy who is one of the leaders of the Ansar Al Sharia groups in Libya. He was at the hotel bragging a while back he wasn't going anywhere. Then took off once he found out we knew him and his group that was working Security Set up the roadblocks on our people. He is enroute to the US or Gitmo now. No others were with him. So he is the only one caught so far. What say ye?

U.S. Special Operations forces captured one of the suspected ringleaders of the terrorist attacks in Benghazi in a secret raid in Libya over the weekend, the first time one of the accused perpetrators of the 2012 assault has been apprehended, according to U.S. officials.

The officials said Ahmed Abu Khattala was captured Sunday near Benghazi by American troops, working alongside the FBI, following months of planning, and was now in U.S. custody “in a secure location outside Libya.” The officials said there were no casualties in the operation, and that all U.S. personnel involved have safely left Libya. The Washington Post learned about the capture Monday but agreed to a request from the White House to delay publication of a story because of security concerns.

Officials, speaking on condition of anonymity about the still-secret operation, would not say where Khattala was being held. They said he was “en route” to the United States, but would not say when he was expected to arrive.....snip~

New guest at Gitmo?

Trade bait.

Mornin Storm'. :2wave: For a second time too. ;)

Believed to be in his 40s, Khattala was imprisoned for many years by the Gaddafi regime for his Islamic views.

The FBI believes other groups were also involved in the Benghazi attacks and is pursuing criminal charges against several individuals, including Abu Sufian bin Qumu, the leader of Ansar al-Sharia in the Libyan city of Darnah. Qumu has also been designated a terrorist by the State Department, as has his group.

In 2007, Qumu was released from the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and sent to Libya, where he was detained. Gaddafi’s government released him in 2008....snip~

Heya CL. :2wave: BO is breathing a big sigh of relief to have something.....huh? He will be taking a victory dance on this. No doubt. One of the Ring-Leaders.

Conventional wisdom seems to think he'll be tried in the United States. Unfortunate.

Mornin' Maggie.

First he has some questions that need to be answered. So they must have taken him thru that process. As it says he is enroute.

Think BO will try and keep him on the mainland or throw him in with our resident Sheik?

Get a rope.

Was Ahmed briefed about the video and to make sure he mentions that in the future? It's real important he sticks with that story. </ hyper sarcasm>

That said, it's good to know it only took 2 years to find one of these guys especially since news outlets had known where they were for weeks after the attack.

Great, Trey Gowdy has one of his questions answered.

Two words come to mind.

Show pony.

He should be squeezed for all the info he has and executed.

Great, Trey Gowdy has one of his questions answered.

Yeah, they know whats going on with this Ringleader and his band of merry men......and now he needs to know who personally hired them for the State Dept. So that Hammer can fall onto who it needs to.

Mornin' Ockham. :2wave: Didn't they catch the NY Times reporter questioning after the fact in Libya and getting others to admit about knowing of that video. Even after hundreds said it had nothing to do with any video?

Great, Trey Gowdy has one of his questions answered.

Trey Gowdy questions:

1. Can you tell me why Chris Stevens was in Benghazi the night that he was killed?
2. Does it bother you (the media) whether or not you know why Chris Stevens was in Benghazi?
3. Do you know why we were the last flag flying in Benghazi, after the British had left and after the Red Cross had been bombed?
4. Do you know why requests for additional security were denied?
5. Do you know why an ambassador asking for more security days and weeks before he was murdered and those requests went unheeded. Do you know the reason why those requests went unheeded?
6. Do you know why no assets were deployed during the siege? And I've heard the explaination which defy's logic frankly. That we couldn't have gotten there in time, but they didn't know when it was going to end.
7. Do you know if our President called any of our allies and said can you help, we have men under attack?
8. Do any of you know why Susan Rice was picked? The secretary of state did not go she says she does not like Sunday talk shows, that's the only media venue she does not like, if that's true. Why was Susan Rice on the five Sunday talk shows?
9. Do you know the origin of this mythology that it was spawned as a spontaneous reaction to a video?
10. Do you know where that started?
11. Do you know how we got from no evidence of that, that being the official position of the administration?
12. Why was security lacking during the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks in the U.S.?
13. Why weren't military units moving to support consulate personnel?
14. Why were references to "terrorists" and "attacks" edited out of the Obama administrations talking points.

So which question does this answer Pete?

Yeah Jack :2wave: While this guy was sipping his drink and being cocky. He wasn't the real brains behind the attack.

Ahmed Abu Khattala

Native of Benghazi in eastern Libya
Construction worker by trade
Spent several years in Gaddafi's notorious Abu Salim prison in Tripoli
Formed his own small militia during the anti-Gaddafi uprising
Denies any links to al-Qaeda but has expressed admiration for them
Also denies any role in the attack on the US embassy in 2012, but eyewitnesses report him being there
US state department says he is a senior leader in Islamist group Ansar al-Sharia
Has been a vocal and visible presence in eastern Libya since the attack.....snip~

But someone from Hillary's State Dept Hired this fool. Someone had to get approval too.

What surprises me was somehow, we made a raid into Libya recently and with all that's being torn up there now. Got out and without taking any casualties.

The article you linked in the OP describes him as...

U.S. Special Operations forces captured one of the suspected ringleaders of the terrorist attacks in Benghazi in a secret raid in Libya over the weekend

The fact that they chose to use such broad and uncommitted language tells me that this guy is a bit player chosen for a propaganda tool.(aka... show pony)

They have to be real careful or they will have the same problem as the Sheik. KSM was waterboarded 183 times and any evidence obtained by torture is not admissible in US Courts, ergo they would have to let KSM go if tried in the USA. So they try him in a Military Tribunal (Australian derivative from kangaroos} to be certain of the verdict. My guess is that they will pose and parade the new evil with maximum PR exposure and a story line that does not tell the story, but has great sound bytes.

So this was the guy that led the " protest " over the You Tube video ?

Heya DF. :2wave: He would be like a Capt of a group. He might be the Leader of his own. But he isn't one of their Main commanders calling the shots. Here is the guy Calling it for Ansar al Sharia in Libya. He is only 46 years old. Also took a Name like the Z-Man himself.

Ansar al-Sharia is an Islamist militia calling for the implementation of strict Sharia law across Libya. The group, whose name means "Partisans of Islamic law" in Arabic, emerged following the February 2011 anti-Gaddafi uprising. It is made up of former rebels from several militias based in eastern Libya, notably the Abu Obayda bin al-Jarah Brigade, the Malik Brigade and the 17 February Brigade.

The group was officially formed in June 2012 when it issued the "Ansar al-Sharia First Meeting", a communique announcing its inauguration. The number of rebels that fight for the group remains unknown. The group operates mainly in Benghazi and denies having any presence elsewhere in Libya.

The group's base in Benghazi's Quwarshah district was reportedly bombarded with surface-to-surface missiles by Gen Haftar's forces.....snip~

Waterboard him, find out what he knows, and then drop him somewhere over the Atlantic.
