Obama Is Sending 275 US Troops To Iraq

I agree. That is really, really disrespectful, and the same people who speak like this about a former US president would be absolutely OUTRAGED if someone was to say such a thing about President Obama.

How about if I said Bush was a Kenyan, Muslim who pals around with terrorists and doesn't like white people or white culture? Not only that, what if I weren't just some joe schmoe on an internet forum but a rather large public figure with a huge following and said those things?

Ahem, you mean like has been happening here for months? I seem to remember a pretty large number of right-leaning posters referring to Obama as Vladimir Putin's bitch. It's OK if you're a conservative, though, I suppose.

What the hell is the difference? What difference does it make? You guys say **** about Bush STILL, and other people talk **** about Obama.

You tell me. You're the one who was complaining about how "disrespectful" it was to say mean things about George W. Bush. I didn't see you holding people to task who said the same thing about Obama.

I see comments from righties claiming Obama hates America and he's an enemy of this country. DAILY from the righties.

It WAS disrespectful.

I was on a thread just recently telling people that it was ridiculous to mock Michelle Obama, so there.

Is that worse than calling Bush a Bin Laden's bitch IYO?

OK, fair enough.

I heard that **** the whole time I was telling them not to go into Iraq. I was anti-American. Just like anyone who dared to criticize Bush on anything. "either you are with us or you are with the terrorist."

Agree with Bush or you are not only anti-American, you are a terrorist. So the fall back is just a repeat of their history.

Got links?

Australia has already sent troops to Iraq to help protect the Australian embassy, given the unfolding conflict in the country. Our Government has already evacuated some staff from our embassy and is encouraging all other Australians to leave while the airport in Baghdad remains open.

It's only a very inarticulate way of saying he is absurdly inept at his position.... it takes kind and considered thought to properly interpret some statements. Oh yeah, "kind and considered", that's the definition of tolerance, is it not?

A couple of pointers to ease your angst in troubled times.

C'mon TC, you had to at least snicker a little.. :2razz:

Good eve to ya' TC\

I will say this, I was born just after Truman took over from FDR. In all that time, through every how many presidents that is, everyone has tried their best to keep American secure and prosperous. I have yet to see one who would intentionally do America harm. This doesn't mean I politically agreed with all of them or even some of them. I may have thought there were doing things dumb and stupid, but never in my mind has anyone of them done anything intentionally to harm the U.S., this includes our current president.

I usually stay away from threads that bash former presidents and the current one only because they happened to be from the other party. I think this says a whole lot more about the posters than any president. The fact we are still here and that we can call any president all the names in the books simply means that each and every one has been successful in keeping this the land of the free.

As long as we don't call him a Redskin.

Calling someone a "Kenyan" or a "Muslim" seems to be quite an insult. I never knew Kenyans or Muslims felt offended by this..

 Good point.

This is a bad move done to placate people like McCain (the "ready, fire, aim" guy). Muslims need some time alone to kill each other for sectarian reasons. Then they will realize that radical religiosity is just plain dumb. Christians did this a few centuries ago. Now its the turn of the Muslims.

Yeah, all this brouhaha over a football team's name is just plain stupid to me. Heck there logo was designed by the president of the American Indian Congress back in 1972 I think. Today one is apt to get into more trouble with the words they say than any wrong action they do.

IN the context of an internet forum no body as compared to large public figures on television... kind of.

Sorry, could you reword that?

Me in an internet forum being hyperbolic as compared to a vice presidential candidate or a nationally televised pundit...

'WASHINGTON – The United State is deploying up to 275 military troops to Iraq to protect the U.S. Embassy and other American interests and is considering sending a contingent of special forces soldiers as Iraq struggles to repel a rampant insurgency, officials said Monday. The White House insisted anew the U.S. would not be sending combat troops and thrusting America into a new Iraq war.

President Obama, in a formal report to Congress, said the troops in in the deployment he was announcing would be equipped for combat and would remain in Iraq until the security situation improved. About 160 troops are already in Iraq, including 50 Marines and more than 100 Army soldiers. Some of those soldiers have only recently arrived.'

US sending 275 troops to Iraq | Fox News

So, it's official...he went from 'no troops' to '275 troops'.

Is this how Vietnam started (after the Gulf of Tonkin incident)?
I wouldn't make anything of it. The US embassy is considered US soil. Please don't be ignorant about that.

If you were a terrorist leader, or I, wouldn't it be to your credit if you were somehow able to murder these 300 men now being sent to stand guard?

And what are these 'military advisers' do when there is no military there anymore? That's as cloudy a term as "Community Organizer". Just what do these people do?

They are not all for the embassy...please don't be ignorant about that.

Oh yes.

Other US places.

275 more isn't going to do much good beyond protecting the embassy, maybe a housing unit for US officials, are they?

When the White House says they are sending hundreds of troops for the Embassy and 'other American interests', I get suspicious.

You don't, fine.
