Obama Is Sending 275 US Troops To Iraq

These terrorists come from many cities and countries throughout the world, and some were born in Europe or America. Boston would be an example.

True, I'll modify it to include only cities with a predominant muslim population.

I'd like that as much as you but I'm not sure that's possible, especially with this Administration's open border policy.

An open border policy has nothing to do with sending drones into Iraq. Whoever can decide to do "shock and awe" can also decide to send drones. Of course it is possible.

It has a great deal to do with it if anyone can easily get into the country with WMD, or even create them in America.

The US has to make a very well coordinated effort to bomb any city in the world, Mecca for instance, but Islamists only need to piece together some fertilizer and other odds and ends to create havoc in America. The Afghans defeated United States and it's allies the West having a far more powerful military and the greatest array of weapons in the world. Islamists only have to threaten action, even a riot, and the first world grinds to a stuttering halt, with cries of Islamophobia being raised, or the trite 'not all Muslims are terrorists'.

We can see how wrong Obama was with his claim that 'the war in Iraq is over' when thousands of Iraqis are being killed each day. The same will hold true in Afghanistan.

America can retreat from these countries but they cannot retreat from the world. As Joe Louis said, "He can run but he can't hide'. Watch what happens when power in these regions is consolidated. The American people have voted for weak leadership and will probably elect another president who soothingly tells them what they want to hear.

I'm a bit of a skeptic on America's future, though it's past is something I've always admired.

We arent talkign about primates...we are talking about relatively modern people in Iraq for the most part. You bet...I think you have to be as direct and blunt as you can possibly be with them. Fight for freedom and happiness or burn.

You dont need luck...you need will.

And America lacked the will to help Iraq get better established or win in Afghanistan. The only ones with 'will' are the Islamists.

Horse****. We spent twice as long as we should have militarily. We rebuilt cities and infrastructures. We trained their LE and police force. We support their economy and industry. 11 years is PLENTY long enough for a people to see a bunch of thugs and band together against them. They choose not to. They lack the will to. Frankly...they will deserve whatever fate they ultimately get.

Obviously it wasn't or there wouldn't be the problems we see there now.

Surely some of these people could have been redeployed, or is the strategy to deploy troops only where the fighting isn't?

And by doing so we'll say to future allies that we can't be trusted. Allowing Iraq to fall will have negative concequences for decades to come.

No sensible individual anywhere in the world trusts the US govt. to do anything but defend corporate oil and mining interests overseas.

And where do you find a problem with that? Shouldn't all American interests be defended?

The man is sending 250 troops to prop up an embassy that may come under siege. For all those who think this is a bad idea, I hope you aren't the ones asking for Hilary's head because she screwed up Benghazi. For all those asking answers for how Benghazi can happen, how one of our ambassadors can be killed, you should be cheering this action.

I will say this is the best decision the President and his team made in this crisis.

And then the President proved me wrong. Well done. Right when I thought I could admire a decision of his...wah wah.

No worries it is offset by the tens of thousands of illegal aliens crossing our southern border.

Yup. They are going to be combat advisers and we are setting up at least two JOCs (Joint Operation Centers). I was under the impression the troops were going there to support the embassy.

The way I understand it, 275 troops are going in to protect the Embassy. This is in addition to those 275.

The US govt. doesn't care about American interests. It's primarily allegiance is to its lobbyists.

At first... I was like...

Then I read back a little and was like...

I don't have a dog in this fight. I'm opposed morally sending any more troops to Iraq and then again, I see the necessity of sending them over there. I still see the post on the melodramatic ******s a bit over the crass line though. There is nothing wrong or melodramatic about a soldier feeling like his friends made the ultimate sacrifice and the mission must be continued on moral grounds. Sure, it's a bit self serving because we know that it's being used to further a political argument - but then again we have to give apdst the benefit of the doubt. He may genuinely feel like his friends made a sacrifice and their work is for naught if he we do nothing.

I have no issues with the additional security of the embassy as long as it isn't used as a backdoor to create another ground war (aka more like "police action") for many years in that despicable place. The people there have proven they do not have what it takes to keep and defend what they have created, and the United States should not continue to make it our responsibility to protect them.
I have no issues with air strikes or small "unconventional" forces going in and doing their thing either.

I do have issues with fellow veterans (I myself am an Iraq war combat veteran) believing that they are entitled to a century long police force in a country that doesn't want us there because they lost buddies in Iraq. My unit lost guys too, I don't try to use their deaths for my own theatrics.

To each their own, I just don't think that he's necessarily a melodramatic ***** for having the opposite opinion. He could easily just call you a sociopath for not seeing the importance of emotions when it comes to some of these foreign policy decisions. You're setting a dangerous standard. It's best to simply say that a soldier's death should not be used for geopolitical gain or attacks - while at the same not attacking those who see the importance of honoring the sacrifices of those who have served.

At one time America was strong, confident and weren't too concerned whether the Saudis or Iranians would be offended. Now too many are afraid of offending anyone, no matter how murderous and backward these regimes might be.

Bull****. Osama bin Laden made Bush his bitch through and through. 19 Saudi's attacked us with backing from some Saudi government officials all because of two things

1) Bin Laden didn't like our air base Bush put in Saudi Arabia.
2) Bin Laden didn't like that we were paying less than $100 per barrel.

9/11 happens and what did Bush do? He then closed down our air base in Saudi Arabia then attacked one of Bin Laden's enemies, Saddam Hussein, and did to Hussein what Osama wanted to do himself which of course drove our oil prices well over $100 a barrel.

Whatever strong "confidence" you are eluding to in the past was all an illusion.

You keep coming up with your certainty of 'facts' and when the truth is demonstrated you don't respond. This is not the first time you've made serious misreadings and it's become un-worthwhile to correct you.

You can remain one of those who will say George Bush is responsible for all the problems in the world, rather than a private citizen like bin Laden, and completely overlook the situation America faces now. Americans like George Bush are always the bad guys in your leftist book, such as calling the US President 'bin Laden's bitch'. This is a line only an anti-American training school for terrorists could come up with.

I agree. That is really, really disrespectful, and the same people who speak like this about a former US president would be absolutely OUTRAGED if someone was to say such a thing about President Obama.

Ahem, you mean like has been happening here for months? I seem to remember a pretty large number of right-leaning posters referring to Obama as Vladimir Putin's bitch. It's OK if you're a conservative, though, I suppose.

You can't refute the substance of his argument, so you fall back on your "anti-American" nonsense.

I heard that **** the whole time I was telling them not to go into Iraq. I was anti-American. Just like anyone who dared to criticize Bush on anything. "either you are with us or you are with the terrorist."

Agree with Bush or you are not only anti-American, you are a terrorist. So the fall back is just a repeat of their history.
