Obama considers special forces to help in iraq

Re: answer

didn't get your thoughts anyway...:2razz:

JFK was a massive problem - he was on every pill you can imagine.

Why you think he got offed?

Re: answer

Kennedy was a dug addict...

Obama not sending troops to Iraq. OBAMA BAD!
Obama sending troops to Iraq. OBAMA BAD!
I think Obama is bad as a president in general, but I would have thought so even if these two events had not taken place, so...

Still, I see the point.

But it has always been that way when politics are involved, especially contentious politics - the opponent is wrong no matter what they do, and your choice is always right.

ANYTHING can be spun away, if the people being spun too want to believe.

What he meant to say was that FDR liked warm water from the same state Bill Clinton was born and that, furthermore, John Kennedy was a Papist. It's all there if you look for it.

Hmm. Imperial Presidency. Dictating to a sovereign nation's elected leader that he has to step down.

Where are all the cries about interfering in another's country now?
There are probably several countries who share the same feelings about Obama.

And we already know that Obama hasn't done such a great job of selecting foreign leaders.

Hey MMC!

I would not feel comfortable being any of these 'Advisers' knowing what happened in Benghazi, what is happening in Afghanistan, and what is going on at the VA if they are injured. It might be better for them to desert, knowing that only a photo op with the US President in the Rose Garden awaits them. .

We have spent $1 Trillion and lost 4500 American lives in Iraq. All this for our work to be unraveled as soon we left. Its time to leave Iraq to its own problems, we shouldn't waste any more time, resources, or American lives for futile attempts at nation building.

I always thought nation building was wrong, something we should have never got involved in. At least the way we went about it.

That's what the English learned in India and the Chinese are now profiting from that knowledge in Central America and Africa. Let them have their customs and make it all about business, which is the way its been done for centuries.

But once the Coalition, led by America, made the commitment to change the inner dynamics of the country they were morally obliged to see it through. Now American lives have been lost or damaged for nothing at all, as with the Coalition members, and the Iraqis will now suffer the same fate. The terrorists win another big one.

I think our biggest mistake was forcing a type government upon the Iraqi that they didn't want and basically had no knowledge of. That also includes how to use it. Then you had the deep divisions with Iraq itself, tribal, religious, ethnic, which could be boiled down to three, sunni, shia, kurds. None wanted to live under the other even if they had a vote. They all want leaders of their kind, from their own tribe, sect, etc.

Americans do not realize when we sent to democracy we had a working knowledge of it from the magna carta on forward. We were basically all English in the thirteen colonies, use to the British Parliament and that form of government. We really didn't have different sects or that much different ethnic backgrounds then. Our colonial leaders had knowledge of both the English system and of Greek Democracy of the ancients. We had spent a couple of centuries priming ourselves for our form of government.

No so with Iraq and Afghanistan. It was basically here, we won the war and now you are a democracy. Break yourselves down into political parties and vote. Like some colonial master of old, we won a war and then told them, like subjects this is your new form of government. No input from them, we gave them no choice. Now even the shia clerics are threatening the SF we are about to send in to help them. Stay out say the clerics, perhaps after all our mistakes involving nation building, perhaps this time we should heed their warning.

There were many claims at the time that it was "All about oil" and the pity was that it wasn't all about oil. Had the Coalition set up a system where the Iraqi people profited and the west remained the protective customers, things might have worked out quite well.

Now when it seems to be all about religion, and oil, those complaints are nowhere to be found. Only when the west does it is it considered to be a crime against humanity which means that the long term outlook doesn't really favor the West.

I don't like conspiracy theories generally but sometimes there can be truth to them when the evidence clearly supports them.

Oh I believe it. The environmentalist are being played like a puppet on a string. Same goes for the Keystone Pipeline. If we utilized all the resources available in the United States, we could become energy self sufficient in 5 years, 10 at the most. But by buying our oil from abroad not only increases the chance of war, we must protect those shipping lanes, it means over a half trillion dollars a year is going over seas to provide jobs in foreign countries instead of ours, it means we are support their economies and not ours, can you imagine another half trillion being spent here in the good old USA instead of over seas could do for our economy.

It would be a Godsend to America!

It really is time that people in the democracies everywhere learned what's going on.
