That's the real story. This wasn't "KFC" -- this was some dufus with a few front teeth (and brain cells) missing.

God!!! How I wish the last paragraph said, "KFC management identified the employee, and he/she was fired."

i agree this wasn't KFC this was some idiot behind a counter and i would have fired him right then and there.

If this is true*, I feel horrible for that little girl.


*Now before you all jump on me, I just want to be clear there is still an ongoing investigation by the company. So far all we have is the girl's grandmother who said this happened, and just like there are despicable people who would insult a 3 year old baby girl, there's also attention money hungry despicable people as well. I do hope the grandmother didn't do that and I think that adorable little girl deserves all the good attention she is getting now.

What I like is that regardless of how the investigation turns out, KFC already donated money and offered a picnic for the girl. So if it is true I hope the employee is fired straight away and if it isn't let's get ready for some more 'discrimination' instances.

Plenty of people are, actually, and they come from all walks of life.

Never, ever, underestimate the cruelty humans show other humans.

I'm going to have to strongly disagree. The reason this story of one jerk being so ugly, insensitive, and stupid and "overly responsive to customer complaints" made the news is because most people aren't thoughtlessly cruel like this.

As for the customers (what, one or two?), the feeding tube should've been a clue. I don't know how you "fix" people who see a tot with a feeding tube and terrible facial injury and not have empathy.

But once in the parking lot of a big-box store, I saw a little girl walking with her mother, and I think she had "Elephant Man's Disease." Other children did point and scream and almost everybody stared, and it was terrible. You'd think that parents would've already taught their elementary-schoolers how to behave around those who are other-abled or disfigured or morbidly obese or whatever.

Wait a minute, assuming the story is true, the background is somewhat confusing, the article states that the grandmother brought the child to visit the grandfather, who had a girlfriend living with him (along with the granny?! Were they in a threesome?) and then the dogs attacked the child? And they (the grandfather and his girlfriend but not the granny) got arrested? And now its the grandmother thats accusing KFC about being insensitive?

Something is fishy here...

I saw this story.. all I know is my heart is broken for the little girl...the KFC thang is just proof of her hardship..

if there is a God please let some great Dr help her more.. no little girl should ever have to feel as badly as she does..

God willing they can fix her....

I'm trying to picture patrons of a fast food restaurant going to the people behind the register in droves and asking to have a young girl removed because of her feeding tubes and eye patch. That right there seems odd. If something in a fast food place offends them, most people leave. It isn't like you sit down and have a long enjoyable meal with appetizers, cocktails and dessert.

How come they haven't identified the employee yet? I would think it would be very easy to do so. There are how many people working in a KFC in a day shift?

Not saying it didn't happen - I obviously have no idea - but the whole story seems a little unclear to pass any judgment on KFC right now.

Well, given the bad press they were getting, it looks that way.

They obviously had only heard about it and pledged the money then as a result of the "story", not their investigation which in their own words wasn't complete.

I suspect if the story ends up having no legs, they can always back out of it - and would know that.

KFC has a PR Department whose job is to stop any potential bleeding.

You're off on the timeline of the story. Her face was bitten some time ago (around April). This KFC incident just happened (like sometime in the last few days) as the girl's grandmother was bringing her home from a doctor's appointment. And the grandmother taking her places said that it was her "other" grandfather (so the other side of the family) who owned the dogs that bit the girl. Two different incidents.

There's this little itsy-bitsy part of me that wonders if it happened. Can't help it. I would think there would be a riot in the restaurant started by a family member who shouted, "Are you ****ing KIDDING me?????!!!!

My understanding is that it was only the girl and her grandmother at the KFC. And the girl was crying by the time she reached the car because she knew that they had been asked to leave because of how she looked. Likely the grandmother was more concerned with the girl at the time than making a scene. I can see myself doing either, standing up for myself/someone else or simply leaving, depending on the atmosphere of the restaurant I was in for a similar situation.

Now, whether it was really the customers or some jerkwad employee is what I question. I honestly believe that this was much more likely to be an employee who took it upon their own to tell them to leave. Now, it is possible that one of the customers showed some contempt for the girl (God knows there are plenty of assholes in this world who feel that they have some right to eat out without looking at certain people who "disgust them", such a thought just makes me angry), but the blame (assuming it actually happened, although I do believe it probably did) lies with the employees who, even if they got any verbal complaints, should have simply told those other customers too bad. Overall, the negative publicity of turning away a scarred 4 year old girl is certainly going to be much worse (if everything is found to be true) than any complaints by customers who may have been there at the time.
