"If anyone was wondering, apparently this isn’t the real story of what happened. According to people in the town, Kelly had approached the store manager to ask that they throw several children out because they were staring at Victoria. Not making fun of her or bullying her, just staring. The manager had no reason to throw them out because they weren’t being openly rude or nasty to the point of unreasonableness, so she refused. Then the grandmother started getting angry because the manager wouldn’t do what she said and became so disruptive that she was the one asked to leave. At no point did anyone say that they were being thrown out of the store because of the injuries to Victoria’s face. It was all because the grandmother reacted poorly to children showing a natural curiosity over Victoria’s injuries. Maybe the children’s parents could have asked them to stop staring because it was impolite, but according to the stories going around, they weren’t doing anything over the top.

After they left, the grandmother started going to every news station she could and told everyone that KFC was mean to them, all the while telling them that she was doing a fundraiser to pay for Victoria’s hospital bills. I hope that none of this is true, but it sounds a little too reasonable for my comfort level."

    Interesting.
I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen or experienced an employee of a fast food restaurant or any restaurant being outwardly hostile or rude to anyone without being provoked in some way. On the other hand - ha ha - I don't have enough digits to count the number of times I've seen or experienced a customer of a fast food restaurant or any restaurant being outwardly hostile or rude to employees or other customers whether provoked or not.

It may be uncharitable, but I'm inclined not to believe a member of a family that would allow a young child to be alone and open to attack by three family pit bulls - that takes an incredible level of ignorance and neglect and a certain level of arrogance.

Personally, I think it was classy of KFC - good PR too - to offer $30,000 for the child's medical bills - I hope they ensure the dollars go to doctors and healthcare providers and not give it to the family directly.

Customers may have complained, but employees and managers are under severe pressure to conform by the letter to corporate policies no matter how stupid and insane they are (and they frequently are esp. w/ones run by incompetent CEOs).

There's no report that KFC has yet fired the employee--it's possible that he/she may have documented the fact that the action was in compliance w/KFC policies and therefore can easily file a termination lawsuit against KFC upon firing.

If there was no firing, that's most likely the case.

Indeed, so classy to kick the child out and then do nothing until threatened w/negative publicity on social media.

I assume that KFC is smart enough to send payment directly to the healthcare provider and not the family. I hope they are anyway.

Still no update on their investigation, but more and more stories popping up that completely contradict the grandmother's story. If she made that up, and what happened is what other people said (that she was the problem, not the KFC employees nor other customers "complaining" about her grandchild), then I'm sure KFC will still make good on their offer but that would be so wrong too.

    Time will tell I suppose.

They kicked the child out? You were there?

The grandmother went public immediately and went to all the local media stations, and also to Facebook. They didn't even know about it. What were they supposed to do about something they knew nothing about?

    If you believe that's what happened - I don't.

Who is the incompetent CEO of KFC? And what are KFC's policies specifically? I assume you work in the Jackson,MS KFC the way you seem to have such insider information in all of your posts.
