RIP, and may his family begin to heal.
I used to listen to him on the radio, late at night, while driving between Amarillo and Abilene when I was but a wee bairn.
“We do not believe any group of men adequate enough or wise enough to operate without scrutiny or without criticism. We know that the only way to avoid error is to detect it, that the only way to detect it is to be free to inquire. We know that in secrecy error undetected will flourish and subvert”. – J Robert Oppenheimer.
While I think a lot of the music was great back in the day, radio has always sucked. I remember listening to Casey and he'd do the countdown and I'd think.. "Really? Off that whole kick ass album THIS is what the 'hit song' is by this band?" I liked Casey though. Great voice for radio.
Back then they always skimped on the rock and would only air the cheeseball ballads off the rock albums. So frustrating. But like always, radio continues with its payola playlists with little or no repercussions and keeping it to what seems like a list around 10 songs or so on constant repeat.
