It's a discouragement. Kids bring guns to school all the time, but nearly all of it is with harmless intent. When I was in the 3rd grade, a kid at my school brought his dad's .38. He wasn't gonna shoot anyone, he just wanted to show it off. Declaring a school a "Gun Free Zone" is supposed to discourage that. I don't know what dumbass thought they were put off to actually impede a criminal, but now that seems to be a common point of dicussion.

Seriously, how much do you earn? It seems like an easy job.

No it's not. It's a "feel good law" by weak politicians.

So you're saying that it's not a full "gun-free zone", it's a "gun-free zone" for minors. Glad we cleared that up.

Do I really need to explain to you the age of people when they go to school?

    Glad we cleared that up.
The shooting took place in a school, what the hell did you think I was talking about?

Hey, you're the one who thought that we needed a special "zone" to stop what's already illegal.

To discourage kids from bringing guns to school to show off to their friends. No one expects them to actually stop a determined infiltrator.

So if I'm over 18 and not a student, I can carry - correct?

Very sorry for you & your friend. It's hard when you know people close to those involved. I hope your friend is okay.
