Kerry: 'Offensive' to leave an American behind

You're changing the subject, this isn't about Gitmo or whether they would have been released anyway. It's about doing the right thing for the right reasons. Policy wasn't followed. We don't trade with terrorist groups. The Taliban aren't even the government. We gave them too much.

If I was a parent of one of the dead soldiers that went looking for Bergdahl,
together with the common knowledge that he walked away from his post,
I'd sure as hell want him brought home to stand trial.
And if he's guilty, let him pound rocks for the rest of his miserable life.
And nail the officers who knew he had walked twice before.

As for policy, I'd venture to say that every President has made a gut call and dealt with some sort of terrorist group.
Where we're heading with this is back to Presidents like Reagan and hostages for missiles going to terrorists, revision which I abhor.
The GOP has proven time and again they will leak confidential info, and many have said they would have this time.
Democratic conservatives get tired of the short memory of GOPs and the felonies committed by their Presidents and people.

I find it a whole lot hypocritical that conservative Vets dismiss the analogy with Israel releasing thousands of terrorists,
since Cons are constantly going for the wedge between Obama and the current Israeli gov't that wanted Romney elected.
Even more phony to me are the terrorist/traitor Snowden apologists, kudos to Boehner and Cantor here.
Snowden who has done immeasurable harm to the USA.
To be honest, IMV the 4th amendment is a PITA that Putin doesn't have to deal with, which makes him look all tough and stuff.

There's no doubt in my mind that the optics of the Rose Garden didn't help.
Clearly Obama doesn't give a **** anymore what his detractors think of him.
But going after Bergdahl's Dad--that's way over the top.
And still no discussion of Bergdahl's health, that he was tortured and kept in a cage, etc.

The house passes bills and sends them to the senate and "Dingy" Harry tables them and won't let them come to the floor for a vote.........Ove 100 of them.

Actually it's up to 200 of those poison pill-laden House bills, many of which future leader McConnell has filibustered himself, so there be no debate .

Your going to have to show me a link or else it is just left wing bull****.........What about the other two thirds "DingY" has tabled? Why not bring them to a vote? "Dingy" knows that a lot of dems in red states will jump ship and vote for them.

Your CON BS needs supporting, not mine- YOU brought the 'over 100 bills tabled' BS cite a source, you at least did that when claiming blacks would refuse to vote for Obama a second time because of the same sex marriage issue, oh and Catholics would abandon Obama over BC, wait and you eagerly drug the Rassy poll in proclaiming Willard would win....

Why no source for just what crap 'Orange Boner' sent up to the Senate, we already know 1/3 was meaningless ACA votes... :doh

My guess as to why Harry didn't move the bills the TPs wanted is because the TPs refused to vote on bills Harry wanted to advance and there was always a disgruntled little big man in the GOP senate putting a hold on Obama's nominees.... :peace

It is common knowledge that "Dingy" tabled over 100 bills sent to him by the HOR but it is not that one third of them were due to Obama care.....All I am asking is why did he table the two thirds my left wing friend.

You can't filibuster something unless it is snt to the floor of the senate.

I figured you wouldn't have anything backing your claim...

It's CON knowledge not common knowledge the two are miles apart my extreme right wing friend....

All I'm asking is you give us a link or two on these TP bills so we can see what they were about and who did what with them.... YOU made the claim now do more than pretend to have 'common' knowledge.... :peace

Nice try but I asked you first for a link and I can't help it if all you read is far out left wing literature....The irony is you are so brainwashed that you don't even believe that "DingY" tabled over 100 bills......that is the sad part.......Now unless you can show me some proof as far as I am concerned this conversation is over. Have a nice evening.;)

Keep dancing.

Apparently you didn't notice the filibuistering of the VA bill by the GOP.
It prevented any further debate.
All because the GOP was all stompy-foot over not getting an Iranian sanctions amendment having nothing to do with Vets.
You can't filibuster something unless it is snt to the floor of the senate.
First to rap themselves in the flag, the GOPs are last to take care of Vets after they serve .

Break it down by paragraphs.
It may help you to respond .

I could, but there has to be a receiver around. I don't see one.

Better than usual.
I spoke of policy that you brought up.
I also spoke of how I'd feel as a parent of one of the dead soldiers looking for Bergdahl.

What would Jeffersoon have done, since cons love to rewrite history.
How did Jefferson's Lybian war go?

Once again, Bergdahl was brought home by Obama--strike one.
Democrats want him to have a fair trial--strike two.
His Father supported his son--strike three and Bergdahl's out

and sadly many good Americans will die from that.

Far out left wing talking points, nothing more nothing less. Way to dodge the issue though.

You claimed there was no filibustering--I proved that the GOP continues to filibuster Veterans--you repeat the phrase "left wing TPs" since you're out of rhetorical ammo .

Not only can you not prove this with any line of reason, your attempt at playing the "Patriot" card would be laughable if it wasn't so sad .

Now listen carefully because I am only going to say this one more time....I don't think you know what a filibuster is. You can't filibuster until "Dingy" brings the bill to the floor vor a vote.

Are you naive to thinks the guys we released from Gitmo are just to go back tp Afghanistan and be "Happy Campers"

Have they been convicted of a crime?

Yes, we know that they are Really Bad People - we get that. But how many years should we keep them locked away without them having been convicted of a crime?

Same goes for everyone in Gitmo, btw - esp. the 80 or so who have been cleared to be sent back to their home country...but can't go because the Republicans won't allow any funding to be available for them to go.

No one should be released from Gitmo until every military man serving there has come home and none are in harms way and the war there is over....These guys are the baddest of the bad. What part of that can you not get through your head????

During WW2 we kept thousands of German prisoners in custody until the war is over.

Um, no, these guys are NOT all the "baddest of the bad". Some were flat-out innocent. We put out a bounty on bad guys in Afghanistan, and some of the people there got the bright idea that all they had to do was to point out people that they didn't like and tell the Americans that "those people are planning to attack you!" or "We heard them laughing about killing your troops!"...

...and our side ate it up - we'd pay the bounty, swoop in and get these guys and bring them to Guantanamo...and then we'd find out that maybe, just maybe they were innocent all along. Right now, there's 86 who have been cleared to go back to their home countries...but the House Republicans won't let them go.

For the 86 prisoners, it's a plight almost Kafkaesque in its cruel absurdity: though the United States believes they should be released from their concrete cells at Guantanamo Bay, they have stayed in prison, often for years, not because of any crime they committed or immediate threat they pose, but because of diplomatic and political hurdles out of their control.

For the Obama administration, it's a maze with no obvious exits: it doesn't want to keep these prisoners locked up in Gitmo, which is politically and diplomatically costly, not to mention antithetical to Obama's stated desire to close the prison, but Congress has forbidden the prisoners from being transferred to U.S. soil. Though the administration had searched for foreign countries to which the detainees could be released, it appears to have since given up, having closed the office responsible for finding those countries.

"Innocent until proven guilty in a court of law"...unless, of course, you're stuck in Gitmo...because if you are, it doesn't matter if you're innocent...because America's AFRAID that you might do something bad if we let you go...

...never mind that by refusing to let you go home, we've probably succeeded in radicalizing most of your family who are outraged that we took you and won't let you go. By keeping Gitmo open, by not letting the ones go home who should've been gone a long time ago, we're probably creating a heck of a lot more terrorists than we would have otherwise....and so more of our troops die.
