Bergdahl says he was tortured by Taliban captors

Just curious. This is the first report I've seen that this soldier we traded for in Afghanistan has said anything? I'll be curious to know who is directing his comments? Are these his words or has the obummer regime given him the best PR firm a government can buy?

These comments are almost to politically correct. His email, his statements as reported by others and the concerns many had about his collaboration, treason and desertion are they "swift boating" him? Is that orchestrated by Fox? I see at least 6 young men coming forward and blasting this man....so do you believe one or six?

This is my take on Mr. Bergdahl. I think that it was the right thing to do by going in and getting an American out of that situation; however, if Mr. Bergdahl is found guilty of what he is accused of than I would only presume that he alone will face the consequences.

Are you forgetting the 5 released terrorists? It is their effect, and that others will likely be taken to be traded, that bothers me.

In all honesty I do not know who to believe.Those 6 young men may not be soldiers.Even if they are or were soldiers doesn't mean they were actually in Bergdahl's squad or team.Even if they were in his squad or team doesn't mean they were there or even telling the truth.Heck they themselves could be spreading hearsay. These six men could be right wing versions of Jesse MacBeth trying to get their 5 minutes of fame or just like many people pissed off that the Obama encouraged more troops and other Americans to be kidnapped by trading five terrorists for one soldier so they could be just trying to demonize a soldier in order make the president's attempt to score cool points blow up in his face.

You don't think the Taliban tortures deserters to make sure they're committed to Jihad?

I'm not saying the guy definitely is a deserter and traitor, but being tortured in no way detracts from that possibility.

Personally, I think the decision made by the Obama administration was wrong and will likely come back to bite the US in some fashion in months or years to come.

That said, it is also wrong in my view to persecute this man in a public way for the sins of the country's leadership. Bergdahl didn't broker this deal - he had no say in the terms and conditions, no sign off authority on making it happen, etc. That's all on Obama and his administration and it's perfectly reasonable to have Congress, the media and the public take them to task for the decision - but not Bergdahl.

Unfortunately, we in the west are at a disadvantage because we generally value life - all life - and we try to save it wherever we can. The Taliban, and others like them, have no respect or love of life and so they can freely and willingly dispense with it - killing Bergdahl would mean nothing to them if he retained no value as a bargaining chip. The error of the administration's decision is that they now have given the Taliban and others the method by which to manipulate America in the ongoing struggles. But Bergdahl himself should be left alone in this public fight and he should be left to the military to investigate and charge, as necessary, or exonerate, if that's what the facts provide.

The media has been dishonest many times.They doctored 911 tapes and deliberately showed blurry to make a man who defended himself appear as a racist. They made fraudulent claims that a former president went awol. The media exploited mass shootings to make it seem as though these things happen everywhere in order to push for gun control, they ignore scandals of politicians they love and blow **** out of proportion for politicians they hate. They prop up candidates.

Well we have already traded arms for hostages- 7 taken in Lebanon. The claim was made the exchange would 'reach-out' to the more moderate elements of that radical regime. So back in the 80's we 'taught' terrorists if they want something, grabbing USofA hostages will work as a bargaining chip.

I have to wonder just how many of the POWs returned after Vietnam went on to fight? These 5 Tally wackers have been out of the fight for a decade, were never masterminds, and frankly lost Afghanistan for the Taliban. Since then far more ruthless and capable men have rose and taken over the 5 detainees positions, I doubt they just move aside to allow these old guys to be back in the saddle.

The Taliban and al-Queera have had decades to set-up a hostage for ransom system based on the one run in Iraq after Saddam fell. IEDs were not the only idea the Taliban was exposed to from our sowing the seeds of democracy in the desert...

Now Israel has exchanged thousands of terrorists and political prisoners with Hezbollah, Hamas, and the PLO for a handful of Israelis- no doubt many returned to the fight, but the far more hard nosed Israeli people and government seemed to have survived.

I'm of the opinion the outrage, disgust, and fears are far more political than actual....

First off your partisan hackery shows- if the Obama Team had the best PR firm a government can buy the handling of the announcement would have gone better... ;)

If the 6 men talking are in fact members of his unit that served with him, their insight is extremely limited. They know nothing of how Bergdahl was treated or if he helped the enemy. Desertion is for the military to decide. The 6 can give testimony to a military court, but they are not judges- neither are the talking heads.
