The Senate Intelligence Committee chairwoman said she’s not convinced there was a “credible threat” against the life of freed Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl that motivated the White House to keep its plans secret.

“I don’t think there was a credible threat,” U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein said in an interview yesterday for Bloomberg Television’s “Political Capital with Al Hunt” airing this weekend. “I have no information that there was.”

Senators were told at a June 4 classified briefing that President Barack Obama’s administration had received indications that Bergdahl’s life could be jeopardized if the detainee exchange proceedings were disclosed or derailed, according to a government official who sought anonymity.

Imagine that ANOTHER LIE from the liar in chief. I am not shocked any more.

"she’s not convinced"....solid stuff there. Does she also have a funny feeling in her tummy about the whole thing?

So now conservatives take liberals' speculation as fact. What a world.

Faux outrage from Republicans. They are Judas', all of them.

Here is what Republicans said before the trade:

Kelly Ayotte said:
"I renew my call on the Defense Department to redouble its efforts to find Sergeant Bergdahl and return him safely to his family," Ayotte wrote in the New Hampshire Union Leader.

Days later, after Bergdahl's release, Ayotte criticized the deal that secured his freedom.

James Inhofe said:
"The mission to bring our missing soldiers home is one that will never end. It’s important that we make every effort to bring this captured soldier home to his family," Inhofe said in a statement in June, 2013.

John McCain said:
"Obviously I'd have to know the details, but I would support ways of bringing him home and if (an) exchange was one of them, I think that would be something I think we should seriously consider,

Sarah Palin said:
Todd and I are praying for Private First Class Bowe Bergdahl, his family, and all of his fellow soldiers who are putting their lives on the line to defend our freedom and protect democracy abroad,” Governor Palin said. “The capture of Private Bergdahl and the bombings in Jakarta prove that we have not defeated terrorism, and that radical extremists will stop at nothing to attack Westerners and our ideals.”

Allen West said:
“Then there is Army SGT Bowe Bergdahl still held by the Islamic terrorist Haqqani network, probably in Pakistan, in the same place where Osama Bin Laden was hiding. This past POW/MIA national day of recognition, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel reiterated a pledge to secure the young Army NCO being held captive, but have there been any actions? Any time, attention, or even mention from the Commander-in-Chief? Nah, no camera highlights in it for him.”

Gateway Pundit said:
Sgt. Bowe Robert Bergdahl was captured by the Taliban in 2009 in Afghanistan. Four months ago, his family in Idaho received a letter from their son through the Red Cross. He was still alive. But sadly it looks like Barack Obama is going to leave US POW Sgt. Bowe Robert Bergdahl behind.

Michelle Malkin said:
My prayers are with the family of Pfc. Bowe Bergdahl, the U.S. soldier seen on the Taliban abduction video released this weekend. The Jawa Report has the full clip. All Americans should hope and pray for his release from jihadi custody.”

Oliver - I use to sell more coke than Colombians - North said:
“Today, I received from the National League of POW/MIA Families, a “Never Forget Bracelet” emblazoned with the name of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. He was seized on June 30, 2009 in Afghanistan and is being held by the Haqqani Organization – a Taliban afilliated terrorist group – in northwest Pakistan. Sgt Bergdahl and his loved ones here at home deserve our prayers and encouragement until he is rescued or released. That’s what we do. We’re Americans.” November, 2011

Now:

Sarah Palin said:
No, Mr. President, a soldier expressing horrid anti-American beliefs – even boldly putting them in writing and unabashedly firing off his messages (The bizarre tale of America’s last known POW | New York Post) while in uniform, just three days before he left his unit on foot – is not “honorable service.” Unless that is your standard.”

Allen West said:
“Ladies and gentlemen, I submit that Barack Hussein Obama’s unilateral negotiations with terrorists and the ensuing release of their key leadership without consult — mandated by law — with the U.S. Congress represents high crimes and misdemeanors, an impeachable offense.” June, 2014

Gateway Pundit said:
In August 2010, the media reported that Private Bowe Bergdahl had joined the Taliban and was training jihadists on bomb-making techniques.

Michelle Malkin said:
Bergdahl is still scheduled for a promotion. For those who served with Bergdahl, I can only imagine this feels like a slap in the face. Many believe the move, and subsequent WH Rose Garden announcement, was timed to knock the VA scandal — a slap in the face to America’s veterans — out of the headlines. A cruel irony if true.”

Oliver North said:
Someone paid a ransom. Whether the Qataries paid it, or some big oil sheik, or somebody used our petrodollars, but there was a ransom paid in cash for each one of them, my guess somewhere in the round numbers of $5 or 6 million to get Bergdahl freed. I know that the offer that was on the table before was close to a million.”

This is like when the Democrats voted for the Iraq war and then decided they were against it. Republicans OF EVERY SINGLE stripe and creed supported this and now they're turned their backs on the very statements they made. Liars and Judas'.

The first statements presume he was captured. The second statements are aware he was training the Taliban.

Taliban propaganda believed by the same right wing who didn't believe their nonsense before 2008.

Yep.

+5 characters.

the reason why i bring up the musical is because there is a specific scene that reminds me of the extremely politicized criticism that the president is receiving.

i will give you a hint: it matchs the intensity of the mob shouting during the trial of Jesus christ by Pontius pilate.

here is the specific scene from the 1973 movie.

He was.

They didn't have that information before. You must admit that's a serious change of context and, in and of itself, accounts for the change in attitude.

The Taliban making outrageous claims for propaganda reasons? Of course not. It's not like claiming they've converted an American soldier and he's now one of them would do any wonders for their image in Islamist circles. The claim has only come from one source that has a lot to gain politically from pushing that nonsense. That Republicans have now become the propaganda wing of the Taliban and continue to utter the report as a fact is better viral marketing than the Taliban could have hoped for.

No, the military reports and statements from soldiers in his unit. Those things did not come to light until later, and that obviously changed peoples' opinion - legitimately.

you mean the military reports that showed that Bergdahl had wandered off base times in the past?

The fact remains, if people believe the new information, it DOES account for the change in opinion.

I think all that is being said is that Obama has some real problems here even within his own party.

Actually:

Report made in 2010:

Bowe Bergdahl - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In June 2010, Bergdahl managed to escape his captors but was recaptured after five days.[47] In August 2010, it was reported that a Taliban commander named Haji Nadeem said Bergdahl was helping to train the Taliban in bomb-making and infantry tactics. The Pentagon dismissed the reports as Taliban propaganda.[48][4

Allen West's statement urging the administration to work on his return: 2013
John McCain's statements urging the administration to work on his turn: 2014
Kelly Ayotte's statements urging the administration to work on his return: 2014
James Inhoffe's statements urging the administration to work on his return: 2014
Gateway Pundit's statements urging the administration to work on his return: 2013
Oliver North's statements urging the administration to work on his return: 2011

Hell, the only two people who I can't find statements on Berghdal AFTER the report came out are from Malkin and Palin. However, my claim about the fact that the claim's original source is one Taliban commander (who has everything to gain from making people believe it) remains:

NBC: Reports about captured Idaho soldier not true | KTVB.COM Boise

"They immediately poked holes in it by pointing out that Nadeem said when Bergdahl was captured after walking away from his combat outpost, for whatever reason, that when the Taliban took him into custody they made him take off all his clothes and his body armor for fear that there was a GPS locator implanted in either the armor or his clothing. But the fact of the matter is Bowe left the base with nothing more than a compass and a bottle of water. He left his weapon and his body armor behind, so the story already doesn't hold much water from the get-go. And the fact that the source of the information is actually a Taliban commander of sorts indicates it may be nothing more than pure propaganda."

Hell, even that article points to the fact that the military was making it public that Berghdal had walked away from him post as far back as 2010. Refuting the claim that this wasn't known and the general public was in the dark about who he was.

The fact remains, if people believe the new information, it DOES account for the change in opinion.

What NEW INFORMATION? This was all pretty public as far back as 2010 and Republicans supported efforts to bring him home regardless!

Bull****. The backlash at Obama is not the fact that Bergdahl has been released. It's is a good thing to have him back on American soil.

The public outrage is way it was handled and the concessions that were made for that release. Obama tried to manipulate the event into some Rose Garden victory lap. They (Obama/Rice/Hagel) have lied about virtually every element of the prisoner exchange. From their portrayal of Bergdahl as honorable and brave to the lies about the movements/freedoms of the 5 Taliban leaders being monitored/contained. First story was that they posed no threat. Then Obama had to completely walk that back.

The White House grossly miscalculated their political savvy/magic on this one....

maybe they calculated that the backlash would have been worse if he had allowed a american citizen die in captivity.

I don't believe his desertion was public knowledge. Without that knowledge, the Taliban claims are easily discarded.

Maybe he should have stayed within the law. Look I know he thinks he is a god but he is not and he needs to stay within the laws of this nation.

Tingling up legs she hasn't felt in years.

How did conservatives come into this? NO MATTER who says what I would have posted this article here. if it were king kong i would have posted this here.
Goes to show that this admin AGAIN LIED to the american public.
