The family of a pregnant American woman who went missing in Afghanistan in late 2012 with her Canadian husband received two videos last year in which the couple asked the U.S. government to help free them and their child from Taliban captors, The Associated Press has learned.

The videos offer the first and only clues about what happened to Caitlan Coleman and Joshua Boyle after they lost touch with their families 20 months ago while traveling in a mountainous region near the capital, Kabul. U.S. law enforcement officials investigating the couple's disappearance consider the videos authentic but say they hold limited investigative value since it's not clear when or where they were made.

The video files, which were provided to the AP, were emailed to Coleman's father last July and September by an Afghan man who identified himself as having ties to the Taliban but who has been out of contact for several months. In one, a subdued Coleman — dressed in a conservative black garment that covers all but her face— appeals to "my president, Barack Obama" for help.

"I would ask that my family and my government do everything that they can to bring my husband, child and I to safety and freedom," the 28-year-old says in the other recording, talking into a wobbly camera while seated beside her husband, whose beard is long and untrimmed.

The families decided to make the videos public now, in light of the publicity surrounding the weekend rescue of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, who was freed from Taliban custody in exchange for the release of five high-level Taliban suspects at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The families say they are disappointed that their children and grandchild were not freed as part of the same deal but are still holding out hope for the U.S. and Canadian governments to secure their release on humanitarian grounds.....snip~

AP Exclusive: Western couple held in Afghanistan

Didn't take long.....huh? They decide to make this public now due to Bergdahl. She appeals to BO for help, just like any other would. So how many on the left think we should release up some more Terrorists for this Woman who was pregnant.....as the AP wanted all to know she was back in 2012. Was that suppose to be the emotional tie in to try and get some help from BO? What say ye?

Down here in Tucson we have a rather substantial fine for people who get stuck driving through washes. You see, here in the desert water doesn't soak into the ground when it rains anywhere near as much as it does elsewhere so if we get a eighth of an inch of rain all the water runs to a low spot and starts flowing in what amount to short lived but extremely energetic streams. Where these streams cross a paved road they carry tons of sand and with as little as six inches of water they can be a serious hazard even for large trucks. On top of that, a wash with 6 inches of water right now can easily have 3 feet of water running through it a few minutes later.

Whenever it rains warning signs get posted and barricades go up. It's pretty much impossible to block off all the roads and places where there might be an issue but both the city and county hit all the spots where there is a known and regular problem. Does that stop idiots from trying to cross? Hell no it doesn't. Every year dozens of vehicles need to get pulled out of washes and drivers pay fines of $1000 and up for their stupidity.

What does this have to do with people who get snatched because they were vacationing in Afghanistan? Well, I'm proposing an idiot fine similar to what we have here in Tucson. If you're so ****ing stupid that you figured it was a good idea to go hiking through rural Afghanistan and you get snatched by the Taliban we'll absolutely do what we can to help you out and get you back home but when and if we succeed you're going to pay for it.

Because of the risk involved and the resources necessary to even TRY to get you out I figure that $3 million is a good starting point and the rates go up from there depending on how ****ty a situation you've managed to create for yourself. If we get you out (and that's a mighty big "IF") and you can't pay we'll hook you up with a new career cleaning toilets in federal prisons and picking up trash along the interstates until we figure we've got our money's worth out of you.

I don't have a problem with people deciding to be idiots but I'll be damned if I'm going to subsidize their stupid.

I love this comment by the chick's mother -
"They really and truly believed that if people were loved and treated with respect that that would be given back to them in kind," said Linda Boyle, Boyle's mother. "So as odd it as it may seem to us that they were there, they truly believed with all their heart that if they treated people properly, they would be treated properly."

How much do you want to bet that they also believe that if we legalize weed all the crime will go away, that if we ban firearms nobody will ever be murdered again and if we hand out $50's to everyone that poverty will disappear?

Like how the AP is pushing this Luther. :2wave: How did you like their start off. The Pregnant woman from 2012.....was that to appeal to BO and his emotionality?

Her parents even admit due to Bergdahl. They needed to release their videos they have.
