One way they can win independents is if the Dems overreach and nominate somebody who can be vilified as a far leftist - perhaps Cuomo of New York of the senator from Massachusetts Warren - both from states than can be demonized in the hinterlands as bastions of liberalism.
Possible, those presidential candidates from New England haven't faired too good lately. Romney lost to someone from Illinois, Hillary then a NY Senator lost to someone from Illinois, Kerry lost to someone from Texas. Dukukis lost to Bush SR. Must be something in the water up there.
This Reform Party member thinks it is high past time that we start electing Americans to congress and the presidency who put America first and their political party further down the line. But for way too long we have been electing Republicans and Democrats who happen to be Americans instead of Americans who happen to be Republicans and Democrats.

What doe's anyone think about this?

My thoughts are that neither Cruz, nor Carson will ever see the inside of the White House except as guests.

I doubt that either one of them will be the GOP's candidate.
I think you're right about Ben Carson.

Ted Cruz is a different story. I think more americans support the shutdown then is being let on. Cruz is also educated and articulate, he hasn't gone off the religious deep end, except a couple panders to the base.

I don't like Cruz that much myself, but if it came down to him versus Hillary, probably Cruz would be my pick. purely because I can't stand hillary. I almost wish Bernie Sanders would run for president, I'd vote for him....

One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.... John Rogers

I voted for Barry and consider him my political mentor after all these years. I can remember another ploy of LBJ, him saying if you vote for Goldwater that soon our boys would be involved in another land war in Asia. Guess he was right, I voted for Goldwater and sure enough, we were soon involved in another land war in Asia. He told the truth about that.

if veitnam had never happened, LBJ would forever be remembered as the greatest reform president of the 20th century since FDR.

The top three greatest presidents are Washington, Lincoln and FDR and LBJ wouldn't have joined them. But he certainly would have qualified as a near great president whereas even with Vietnam historians have LBJ rated above average. The greatest reformer since FDR, yeah that is true.
