That makes us no better than any 3rd rate military dictatorship.

And it does little to help us in a region of the world we have little knowledge of. We at least knew what we were getting involved with when we were going toe to toe with the USSR.

    Or thought we knew.

Global geopolitics plays by a different set of rules. Let the national leaders figure out what's the best way to serve the nation's interests, and no sense in needlessly hamstringing them in what they can do by rules that don't even apply in that field of endeavor.
Disinformation campaign? The Russian collusion meme pushed by the 'news' media, behaving as a political propaganda organ, hell bent to destroy a legitimately elected president to implement his agenda per the votes of the same electorate. Reference The Big Lie Reference Goebbels

It is not pacifism , its diplomatic relations.

I think there is a lack of education about the Arab world.

We know absolutely nothing about the culture, customs, politics , and basic info of a region of the world we are now fighting in.

We know enough to know that diplomacy doesn't carry as much weight as it does in other parts of the world.

I think it's funny that you engage in mirror-imaging before you lay that charge.

Perhaps you don't, though. That being said, the US foreign policy establishment has been pretty focused on this area for quite some time now.

The Army has had five years to look into the matter. Dereliction of duty on the Army's part ?

Why was this guy Bergdahl (don't even want to refer to him as a soldier) promoted twice in rank when he was being classified by Obama's DOD as a POW ? This is totally unheard of in the past 236 years in America's history. Something stinks.

Technically, isn't Bergdahl still in the U.S. military ? Why was he allowed to keep wearing his Taliban beard while being honored at the White House yesterday ? Definitely a violation of Army regulations here. Something stinks.

Aren't Berdahl parents known lefty anti war/military activist ? Nothing smells here.
Just a heads up. Promoting POWs while they are still in captivity has been the US military policy since at least WW2 so you are way off on that. Look up US Navy CPT Stocdale from Vietnam. Or General Wainwright from WW2

With that said I would have no issues had they not promoted this turd and hope he is eventually punished for desertion.

Lots of good info at this link: Fellow soldiers call Bowe Bergdahl a deserter, not a hero - CNN.com

Interesting link. Looks like Bergdahl is taking the place of Jane Fonda.
