[R.I.P.] Maya Angelou Dies at 86...[W:7]

Dead Poets Society | The American Spectator
er greatest performance wasn’t in the miniseries Roots or on the album Miss Calypso. It was playing the character Maya Angelou. There’s a P.T. Barnum quality to Maya Angelou. Convincing the world of your greatness requires a greatness. This is especially true of the mediocre.

Going from rags to riches by conquering the business world serves as one American Dream. A more common, albeit less realized version, involves enjoying a six-figure living from a no-show job.

Her mouth occasionally called the promise of America a big fat lie. Her life begged to differ

Not all reflection on life is autobiographical. If life has been blessed for me...does not mean the same is true for every other human being on earth. Sometimes art shines the light on that truth.

The class of the right on display

I really resent this sweeping overgeneralization. I'm never quite sure what "the right" actually means, but I am a conservative, generally, and my posts on this thread have not been classless.

And yet all the classless post are from people who are conservative, so I think it is not an over generalization, a generalization yes....but then it is not atypical to see me lumped in with all kinds of crazy things.

It is an overgeneralization because it's a universal proposition that is invalid. And also a lie. Substitute "the left," and I'd say the same. You only diminish your credibility when you're unfair.

"Maya Angelou, an author more revered than read, passed away at 86 on Wednesday. She is survived by her seven autobiographies."

LOL. I would love to give people basic quiz on Maya Angelou's literary works to everybody who claims Maya Angelou is such a brilliant poet/writer.

I know what the answer would be, but it would still be fun to do .

Gosh, I don't know the answer--what is it?

The age of miracles is not yet past. On Fox, at least.....

Not sure what you meant by that comment--that you're surprised that Fox noted Angelou's passing? Or that Fox regards as a miracle the fact that she finally died? What's your snarky point?

What can the average person tell us about Einstein's work other than E=MC2? Nothing. Doesn't mean his work wasn't brilliant. If we go by the understanding the average person has of a brilliant person's work, few people would be brilliant.
