White House Contacted Youtube DURING Benghazi Attack.[W:324]

Re: White House Contacted Youtube DURING Benghazi Attack.

Holy ****, I did? Was it because I took the 10 to get to work instead of taking the surface streets as usual, or was it because I put off filling the tank til the last possible moment?

We have found the smoking gun. Cardinal did it.

I didn't know!

Re: White House Contacted Youtube DURING Benghazi Attack.

The Guardian Newspaper and a German broadcasting outlet blew that story out of the water the next day. The Guardian was able to sift through the rubble and lift classified documents; US security staff did not arrive for several days.

The BBC and CBC were both reporting a terrorist attack within 48 hours, with stories leading with "The US White House continues to cling to...."

The story did not change for two weeks and as evidenced here they still try to give it validity. There was a CIA report that the video figured in a demonstration in Egypt, that was it.

Yet, they continue to try to hide behind it, nearly a year and a half later, continue try to assert that it's no big deal, when in fact Obama has sent a message that you can so kill American diplomats and get away with it.

The president who would "not rest" until the perpetrators were caught and punished hasn't caught anyone to punish in 18 months.

THAT, tells everyone all they need to know.
didn't the white house contact youtube as the battle was ongoing, directing the video to be taken down
isn't that an indication that the administration actually believed in real time that the video had instigated the uprising, as was believed had earlier occurred in cairo
doesn't that exculpate the white house of the allegation it made up the attack being a video related incident

but hold hearings
find out why congress underfunded the state department's request to harden its most vulnerable facilities
find out what the CIA's role was and why the ambassador chose to make himself so vulnerable in a very hostile environment
find out if our spooks were transferring arms to the rebels, and if that was aided by the state department
find out if al qaeda used the commotion about the video as a smokescreen to launch an effective attack against the US

your whining that the perps have not yet been brought to justice is begging for a comparison to the shrub and his failure to pursue osama bin laden and reagan's withdrawal of forces after 241 of our troops were killed in the 1983 beirut attack

Re: White House Contacted Youtube DURING Benghazi Attack.

I love this. I do. Watching all the right wingers jump on the conspiracy theory wagon and then play themselves off as reasonable and logical is ....a riot.

Re: White House Contacted Youtube DURING Benghazi Attack.

The video had already sparked demonstrations elsewhere in the Middle East. Was is so far out of the realm of possibility, at the time, that someone might have thought this to be an extension of those demonstrations? Are you a mind reader?

No it didn't.

The Cairo Embassy Riot was the first time a American State Dept employee mentioned the video.

The first time the Obama administration tried to use a obscure internet video to protect its Al Qaeda on the run narrative.

Someone inside the Cairo embassy sent a strange and disconnected press release about a Video during the riot.

Strange because no one, NOT EVEN THE CIA or EVERY American with any intelligence thought the Cairo attack was about a stupid video.

The Cairo embassy attack was not about a video. It was abiut Jihadists attacking a American embassy to force the release of the Blind Shiek.

The Obama administration were even given warning about the possibility of a attack on our Cairo embassy.

Prior to the Cairo Attack there was no riots connected to that video.

The Cairo attack happened in Sept 11.

A few hours later, Hillary Clinton released a press release mentioning a you tube video before the Benghazi attack was even finished.

Now now F&L......don't be letting them in on those Other news sources with timelines. You know that's to much for them to handle now. You have to remember.....the naysayers only understand US MS Media propaganda. Well except until it comes to Benghazi. Then they just go with BO says. That's when you see them start talking about CNN, or ABC, wondering if they have changed formats to the Right.

Even Libya's President blew that video story out of the water immediately following the attack. All the Libyan's knew what happened yet, in leftist American circles, that video story still seems to be getting some traction. Brand loyalty is making too many fools of the American public. It's embarrassing to the nation. Consulate Attack Preplanned, Libya's President Says : NPR

Mornin' Grant. :2wave: Especially if they are running back to the video for any sort of defense or argument. Its a mute point other than it was used to deflect with by BO and his Team.

Instability in Benghazi

In April 2012, two former security guards for the consulate threw a homemade "fish bomb" IED over the consulate fence; the incident did not cause any casualties.[37] Just 4 days later, a similar bomb was thrown at a four vehicle convoy carrying the United Nations Special Envoy to Libya, exploding just 12 feet from the UN envoy's vehicle without injuring anyone.[38]

In May 2012 an Al-Qaida affiliate calling itself the Imprisoned Omar Abdul Rahman Brigades claimed responsibility for an attack on the International Red Cross (ICRC) office in Benghazi. On August 6 the ICRC suspended operations in Benghazi. The head of the ICRC's delegation in Libya said the aid group was "appalled" by the attack and "extremely concerned" about escalating violence in Libya.[39]

The Imprisoned Omar Abdul Rahman Brigades released a video of what it said was its detonation of an explosive device outside the gates of the U.S. consulate on June 5, which caused no casualties but damaged the consulate's perimeter wall,[40][41] described by one individual as "big enough for forty men to go through."[42] The Brigades claimed that the attack was in response to the killing of Abu Yahya al Libi, a Libyan al-Qaeda leader who had just died in an American drone attack, and was also timed to coincide with the imminent arrival of a U.S. diplomat.[43][44] There were no injuries, but the group left behind leaflets promising more attacks against the U.S.[45]

British ambassador to Libya Dominic Asquith survived an assassination attempt in Benghazi on June 10. Two British protection officers were injured in the attack when their convoy was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade 300 yards from their consulate office.[46] The British Foreign Office withdrew all consular staff from Benghazi in late June.[47][48][49]

On June 18, 2012, the Tunisian consulate in Benghazi was stormed by individuals affiliated with Ansar Al-Sharia Libya, allegedly
because of "attacks by Tunisian artists against Islam."[26]:31.....snip~

The conspiracy surrounds the lie that the attack in Benghazi was based on a video.

Seems as if the administration believed the video to be the cause and took measures to have it taken down. Tell us all about how they sat in a dark room with a crystal ball and planned all of this out.

No, it's impossible that the administration would just be confused about the cause of the attack.

That's a pretty weak conspiracy.

If any of them believed it was about a video then they are thicker than two whale sandwiches. That line was for the believers, their media enablers, and strictly American consumption. Obama, Clinton, Rice et al, could never have believed this for a moment.

Right, because the Muslim world never starts riots over videos, cartoons or any insult to their precious Mohammed. Never you mind that the all over the Muslim world there were riots over the video AT THAT TIME.

Of course it is but enough of their followers bought into it to get past the election.

We must keep in mind, as does Obama and all Democrat leaders, that their followers are not all that curious, or bright. They are always very receptive to whatever their leaders claim.

Except that things like vandalism against the Quran, even a cartoon of Muhammed, has sparked demonstrations in the past. The idea that Innocence of Muslims caused the attack was so far within the realms of credibility as to be ridiculous.

Again, there have been dozens of videos on Youtube, and still are, critical of Islam. There are also dozens of websites.

Why would The Religion of the Perpetually Offended make such a big fuss over this one very amateur video?

Why would they riot over somebody drawing a picture of Muhammed? I don't know, there are a lot of crazy people in the world.

Oh yes, they have, which is why it is so easy to blame it on this sort of thing again.

Re: White House Contacted Youtube DURING Benghazi Attack.

Yes, there are but there was no evidence whatsoever that Benghazi was caused by a video. Instead all the evidence pointed to a well coordinated attack.

As soon as the news broke on September 12 there were many here, including myself, who said there is no way this was the result of a video. Certainly the foreign press was less likely to believe this video silliness and the Libyan President ridiculed the idea. Yet, over 18 months later, this video idea still has some traction. Some people are just willing to believe what politicians tell them, despite their reputation, and it seem to have often been that way.

Re: White House Contacted Youtube DURING Benghazi Attack.

Sure, and there are thousands of cartoons making fun of Islam - only the ones in Denmark got the attention of the Muslim world for.... what? 6 months?

Why would The Religion of the Perpetually Offended make such a big fuss over this one very amateur video

Your understanding and correlation of "very amateur video", popularity, viral capability, and what is considered amateur is weak AT BEST.

1. Half the horror movies today are filmed at a fraction of the cost of most Hollywood movies (some for $60,000). They get the attention of millions around the world. How are they made? Handheld cameras, nausea inducing editing and unknown actors. Profit? 1/4 of a billion dollars for some.

2. Today, a 7 second video made by kids in Australia can reach North America and get 30 million views in about 2 days. That's kind of the thing about globalization and overpopulation. Salman Rushdi's book took years to write and made its way across the Atlantic in months, a video made in 20 mins insulting Mohammed can do it in seconds.

3. Religions get offended over whatever they want to get offended about. Happy holidays, Christ in piss, Buddha sucking off Vishnu - whatever.

The point of all this is that your argument that there is no way the administration could have thought the video was the cause is beyond ridiculous. Of course they could have. Hell, it wouldn't be the first time Islam gets its panties in a wad over media depicting Mohammed badly. The demand by the white house to take down the video? Perfectly plausible if the narrative is that there was an initial confusion over the cause of the riots. Highly implausible if the narrative is some big giant conspiracy

No, they knew it wasn't over a video.

The State Department was communicating with the Lybian Government the night of the attack.

Not telling them it was a Video but telling them that it was a terrorist attack and it was a group loyal to Al Qaeda who was responsible.

At the same time Hillary Clinton put out a press release before the attack was over blaming the video.

You wamt me to believe that our State Department knew exactly who was responsible almost immediately but Clinton and Obama thought it was over a video ?

Lol, now you're asking us to believe a country just recently removed from the state sponsor of terrorism list, with an Islamist-backed leader - instead of a far more plausible possibility like the Muslim world going nuts over a video making fun of their prophet. Your partisanship is showing. If the state department chose to ignore the words of the Islamist backed government in Libya, I don't blame them.
