Obama on VA allegations: 'I will not stand for it'

Obama on VA allegations: 'I will not stand for it' - CNN.com

"I will not stand for it," President Barack Obama said Wednesday when it comes to allegations of misconduct at VA hospitals. Obama said he understands the public wants a "swift reckoning" in the Department of Veterans Affairs scandal, but he asked for time to allow the investigation into allegations of cooked books to run its course.

Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki is committed to solving the department's problems, Obama added, but it has been made clear to him that there will be accountability throughout the VA system.

Under criticism for failing to act on a growing controversy, President Barack Obama met Wednesday with Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki about the controversy over cooked books that covered up deadly delays for veterans to receive care.
Seems to me he stood for it a long time.

    Didn't he say this before?
I have CDO, it's like OCD but the letters are in alphabetical order like they should be.

The public wants to hear that people lost their jobs over this. Anything less is lip service. Resignation from the top? Not enough.

If he resigned that would be enough.

I would have preferred a more decisive approach that would have entailed among the following elements:

    1. An investigation with a full report to be produced within 30 days. If necessary, investigative resources would have been shifted from other projects, as the nation's veteran's deserve the highest priority.

    2. A commitment that any individuals responsible for the fraudulent reporting would be held fully accountable for the fraud and the consequences of that fraud, including the deaths of veterans.

    3. Any medical personnel involved in fraudulent reporting would also be held accountable, including the possible loss of their licenses to practice medicine.

    4. The federal government would provide compensation to the families for their losses.

The response so far, other than expressing "outrage", has been to let (force?) the #2 VA moron retire a month early. A harsh punishment, indeed, for not doing a job that probably led to people's earlier deaths. Yet more trouble in the kingdom; an internal investigation will conclude that mistakes were made yet nobody actually made them.
