Illiberal Education, The End of Racism, and Ronald Reagan. IMO, his first book was probably his best literary work. His recent works on President Obama, including his movie, were largely ideological statements. As I'm familiar with the ideological arguments that define Washington's discourse and its personalities, I didn't think those latter works would provide much new insight for me, as one only has so much time for reading. I do wonder if he got swept up in an ideological crusade of sorts so that his passion stifled his restraint when it came to making choices. I don't know.

I hope he gets his life in order again, both personally and professionally. He was an articulate proponent of the conservative message and over time he probably can regain at least some of what he's lost on account of his recent issues, if he chooses to return to the policy realm.

The reason why I highlighted that text is, even if one disagrees with it, it was about one of a dozen texts on the subject that were important in articulating a conservative (or primarily, neoconservative) reaction toward campus life and the academy during the 1970s, 1980s, and early 1990s.

Prison For D'Souza, Beach Time For Corzine

Prison For D’Souza, Beach Time For Corzine Selective enforcement of the law is a dangerous thing.May 21, 2014 By Mollie HemingwayConservative author Dinesh D’Souza pleaded guilty to breaking campaign finance laws. He was accused of having urged two friends to make $10,000 contributions to a Senate candidate and then reimbursing them. This is an illegal work-around of campaign contribution limits.

He won’t be sentenced until Sept. 23 but faces 16 months in prison and a $30,000 fine.

So a guy does something wrong and pleads guilty. What’s the big deal?

Well, there’s the ridiculosity (that’s a word, right?) of such campaign finance laws and the pretty serious looming sentence for the crime. Prison.

I should probably mention at this point that D’Souza really, really, really doesn’t like President Obama. In 2012 he produced a popular documentary called 2016: Obama’s America, a harshly critical look at Obama’s worldview and how it affected his governing. That was in turn based on a book called The Roots of Obama’s Rage. Not that D’Souza has avoided criticism from the right, but his disdain for progressives is returned in spades.

The Law Is A Funny Thing
Now let’s take a look at one Jon Corzine. Who is he? Well, he was CEO of Goldman Sachs, spent $62 million of totally clean (I’m sure) cash buying a Senate seat, brought New Jersey to the brink of fiscal ruin in his sole term as governor, and then ended up implicated in one of the largest scandals in Wall Street history. How big? Oh, like $1.6 billion big. snip

Yup he committed a crime. He serves his time.

Why? because you like the guy?

Popular? Really? A movie full of lies and stupid opinions based on nothing.

    Really?

Campaign Finance - Money, Political Finance, Campaign Contributions

I know who donates, who they donate to and how many times they donate ($500.00) per donation limit.... It seems progressives BOTH democrat and republican progressives enjoy circumventing contribution maximum's.

This is purely another example of progressive communists attacking their opposition for something they do routinely....

Besides, the problem in D'Souzas case wasn't the fact of the donation but rather reimbursement of the donation..... Meanwhile progressives in Chicago throw kickbacks around like it's a Chicago pastime!

    D'Souza didn't do ANYTHING wrong!

If someone does something wrong I will condemn them for their actions however this gong show - is just that - a gong show...

As far as I'm concerned D'Souza is a martyr and we will see just how true it is given his sentence.

Dinesh D'Souza has always been a douchebag, good riddance to him.
There is nothing demonstrably true that religion can provide the world that cannot be achieved more rationally through entirely secular means.

Re: DíSouza Pleads Guilty to Violating U.S. Campaign Finance Law (3)

He just did an interview with Megyn Kelly and boy is it going to piss his detractors off...

He openly admitted what he did, admitted it was wrong and took 100% of the blame without laying any of it on anyone or anything. He disclosed precisely what he had done that was illegal, the reasons he did it, and never dodged or refused to answer a single question...

What he did was freely and openly admit his legal indiscretions and instead of acting like an ass by playing the victim, blaming others or pointing fingers, he was humble and conducted himself with class.... And I suspect that will really get under some people's skin around here.

Anyways his documentary was a conspiracy hack show, his books are terrible, and he is a crook. [/FONT]
For every Dinesh D'Sousa on the right, there is a corresponding Michael Moore on the left. LOL.
