"To waste, to destroy, our natural resources, to skin and exhaust the land instead of using it so as to increase its usefulness, will result in undermining in the days of our children the very prosperity which we ought by rights to hand down to them."~ Theodore Roosevelt (Message to Congress, Dec. 3, 1907)
the fact is microsoft shot itself in the head with windows 8.
i don't nkow very many corporations that are leaving 7 after the upgrade from xp.
i know my company only orders windows 7 boxes.
windows 9 doens't look to be anymore promising just what windows 8 probably should have been.
until they come out with another windows xp/7 model they are going to have a hard time getting anyone but consumers to switch.

our high school was equipped with a lab of Tandy 1000s. that meant GWBasic and Turbo Pascal with a healthy portion of King's Quest and Space Quest during study hall.
windows 2000 ugg even the server version was a disaster. server 2003 was much better and way more stable.
yea i don't know why they did that. i know they were trying to integrate tablet and everything else, but they went about it the wrong way.
i have to work on my father in laws all the time. finding anything is a disaster.
Talking about corporations using or not using Win8 is irrelevant. MS knows that business use of a new OS never happens quickly. It didn't happen quickly with XP or Win7...it won't happen quickly with Win8. The fact is, Win8 is aimed directly at the consumer. MS's aim is to change the way people use their personal computing devices...from phones to tablets, laptops and pc's. They want people to get used to an OS that has the same look and feel across all those devices. But they know that'll take time. It's not a problem for them.
Businesses are still slowly working on switching to Win7. Win7 is also used by massive numbers of consumers. The consumers who stop using XP will be switching to Win8...some to Win7. No problem for MS...they sell their OS's either way.
All MS has to do...in fact, all they ARE doing...is to add content and refine their Win8/Win9, etc., direction. Make improvements. Add content and capabilities. Change the way people use their computers. Cortana is one of those capabilities...kinect is another. In 10 years, more people will be using Win8/Win9 than Win7 and corporations will be bringing up the rear...slowly changing...as they normally do.

Mac or bust. I got tired of XP and Vista crashing Photoshop, switched to Mac OS and never looked back.
I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality. - MLK
