"We ain't a sharp species. We kill each other over arguments about what happens when you die, then fail to see the ******* irony in that." - Justin Halpern
If China wants to stick with an antiquated OS (XP), prevent their citizens from moving forward along with the rest of the world and subject themselves to increased probability of hacks and attacks...that's their choice. Since MS doesn't make that much money off the Chinese because of piracy, this isn't hurting MS any more than they already are being hurt. In fact, this ban on Win8 could mean that the Chinese government will prosecute those Chinese who try to pirate Win8.
The only ones really being hurt by this ban are the Chinese.

Well, I did head off to college rocking 3.1 with a 386, a 40 mb hard drive, no sound card, and a 2400 baud modem*.
*my awesome folks promptly upgraded me to a soundblaster, 100 mb hard drive, and 14.4 k baud. And the year after that, it was pentium 60. My folks are pretty great. I can still feel the excitement of finding a new local BBS to download shareware from. 14.4 baud felt like lightning speed after 2400. And then ethernet a couple years later? That was like landing on the moon.
