Switzerland rejects world’s highest minimum wage

Good for them. I knew those hot Blonds over there couldn't be that stupid :)

'A move to set the world’s highest minimum wage has been overwhelmingly rejected in a referendum of Swiss voters.
The call for an hourly minimum of 22 Swiss Francs (£14.66) was vetoed by 76 per cent of those who took part in the poll.'

hmm they cited the same reasons that people here cite when talking about absurd minimum wage pay.
funny isn't it.

yep and we elect officials that vote on it as well.

So you're removed from direct action and instead depend on politicians to choose for you. That can work for some too.

I'm not sure if the same conditions apply, but a decade or so ago when I studied about Switzerland, they had a permanent 'underclass' of immigrants who lacked citizenship (Swiss citizenship is difficult for foreigners to obtain... unless you're rich...) and performed most of the lower-rung labor in the country.

So there are more underlying reasons perhaps than simply a rejection of high min-wage entirely... but rather a large helping of not wanting to overpay the immigrant labor pool. Assuming it would have even applied to them, I'm not sure about that.
