Good planning by China certainly, and Russia, but under-educated Americans made it happen. They've no one to blame but themselves.

Their method of 'land redistribution' was rather whimsical, allowing those established in the party to take whatever they wanted. One of my employees friend's family lost their pharmacy while another lost his job on a farm when the communists seized that. Over 400,000 managed to escape to Costa Rica and almost 200,000 to the US. At least in Nicaragua, unlike Cuba, they weren't trapped behind an ocean.

Why would we want to bring it back?

We need a large Russian base, mostly to re-arm our military for a re-occupation of Guanacaste, a guarantee (as Honduras has by the US) against invasion from the Russians, and the construction of a deep-water port on the east coast capable of handling commercial cargo en masse and provide us with the funds to build a non-mud road from the West Coast to the East Coast of our great nation.

We need the Trans-Oceanic Canal for Economic Growth funded by China/HKND. If you can't get that, I suggest trying to yank your head out of your ass.
Oh, I follow these things all over the world and if you don't want to see the implications you won't. Of course there are aspects of billion dollar investments and a few people have certainly already cashed in heavily. But only time will tell how it plays out in detail. Some of the regions in Africa and Asia are already regretting the Chinese investments and if you have time you should talk with some Ukrainians, Georgians or Syrians about what their Russian military ports have meant to them.

pS: it is not very impressive to talk the way ghetto children think sound manly.

    Blah blah blah:

Betrays inferior understanding of differences between Africa, Asia, Central America.

I suppose what works in Eastern Europe should be wholly applied to Antartica as well

Are Syria, Ukraine or the Georgians (and lol for the equivalent, if anything the Russian port has been a great benefit to Syria thanks to the aid flowing for the Al-Assad regime from it) just south of the greater Imperial beast, aka the USA?

I suggest you "follow" a bit more, bud.

So its not the propaganda thats huge, its 'people acting against their interests?' That still doesnt sound huge, but at least we're breaking down the sweeping statements. So, what actions would be huge?

Both China and Russia are taking as many bold leaps as possible before time runs out, and the United States gets a real president again.

Obama is either a spineless, clueless child, or this is his preferred outcome.

This isn't a left right thing, its a right wrong thing, and the policy of denying communism a foothold had nothing to do with protecting the interests of Latin American citizens, but ensuring that it was US business that had exploitation rights.

Re: Russia and China Move Into Central America

One - the scheme is still in the development stage.

Two - this idea has been around for eons...America could have developed it if she had wanted to - but she didn't (for obvious reasons, she already has the Panama Canal).

This is no threat to America at all.

If the Russians were buying the Panama Canal - that would be different. But they aren't. They are just proposing to build another canal.

A second canal would be great for world trade. Another route, competition (to bring the prices down) and so on.

And what Nicaragua does within it's own borders is it's own business - not America's.

One additional good thing about is it will REALLY piss off the hardline Neocons...I love pissing off hardline neocons.
