Putin takes a hint from North Korea

Vladimir Putin scores 6 goals, 5 assists in hockey game - Washington Times

Russia's Putin Leads Amateur Ice Hockey Team to Lopsided Victory - WSJ.com

So Russia's primary state owned TV channel broke into its prime time news coverage to break to Putin playing hockey, technically an exhibition game but with a few world class players who all praised his outstanding performance as he scored 6 times and had 5 assists and all after just learning to skate last year!

Check out Putin skillfully place the puck into the goal against this relentless defense!

Vladimir Putin hit the ice for a friendly hockey game in Sochi | For The Win

Now surely this is a propaganda piece, trying to make Putin look good and breaking into prime time news coverage without warning to make sure as many people as possible see it. Next thing you'll know he'll have written thousands of books and the first time he plays golf he'll have 15 hole-in-one shots.

After his eighteenth publicly released video of hunting a bear or taking down a bunch of KGB agents with Kung Fu I would have thought the entire world would have collectively rolling its eyes by now.

Pffft no that was real, he's so manly hunting tigers and wrestling bears without a shirt. Obama is just some punk who plays golf and wears flip flops, what a pansy.

Scuttlebutt is, Putin is starting to write a book for children. Supposedly about a bear (a Russian bear) that travels back in time sixty years or so in history.

I suppose Putin took a hint from Rush.

Maybe Obama should take a hint from Putin and go on tour with the Harlem Globetrotters ?

It's actually the best thing about propaganda from a totalitarian regime: as its leaders become increasingly taken in by its own marketing campaigns the propaganda becomes increasingly more hilarious.

That being said, I wish our President could wrestle a bear.

Re: Putin takes a hint from North Korea

Oh please, Putin has been doing this sort of propaganda without having to look at North Korea for hints on how to do it.

It's always been this way. The Tsar was always shown as majestic, honorable, true, caring about the people and obeying God.
The leaders of the USSR (and other commie countries) were often depicted as being skilled in all manners of labors. You could see them as farmers, as railroad builders, construction builders, chemists, etc... always being close to the people and caring for them and ofc, they were see as fathers, holding little children. An analogy ofc to the whole "father of the nation" thing.
And Putin is carrying out that proud tradition of megalomania and the cult of personality by being, he himself,a tough guy, a macho man, the paragon of athleticism. It's not quite as grand or majestic as those before him but you know... it kinda sux that those before him used the cult of personalities that they did, limiting his choices if he doesn't want to be associated to any of them.

The Putin propaganda seems to work on certain Americans.

I think Americans that appreciate Putin do so for other reasons.
