Research which heaped doubt on the rate of global warming was deliberately suppressed by scientists because it was “less than helpful” to their cause, it was claimed last night.

In an echo of the infamous “Climategate” scandal at the University of East Anglia, one of the world’s top academic journals rejected the work of five experts after a reviewer privately denounced it as “harmful”.

a German physicist, Rupert Darwall, likened the reaction to Bengtsson’s decision to join the foundation advisory board to the reaction of someone joining the KKK.

“In their persecution of an aged colleague who stepped out of line and their call for scientists to be subject to a faith test, 21st-century climate scientists have shown less tolerance than a 16th-century monarch. There is something rotten in the state of climate science,” said Darwall.

Another expert, Judith Curry, said such disgraceful behavior “has the potential to do as much harm to climate science as did the Climategate emails.”

The emails, hacked from the University of East Anglia Climate Research Unit several years ago, showed climate scientists admitting that there was no sudden spike in global warming and exposed their frantic efforts to cover up evidence.

Bengtsson is a former director of the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology in Hamburg, Germany, and author of more than 200 papers.

In Bengtsson’s letter of resignation, he said: “If this [pressure] is going to continue I will be unable to conduct my normal work and will even start to worry about my health and safety. I see therefore no other way out therefore than resigning from GWPF.

“I had not expected such an enormous world-wide pressure put at me from a community that I have been close to all my active life,” he said.

The irony here is that the data shows that the earth does indeed rotate on an axis, the "data" used by warmists is flawed and does not even match their own models, and they continue to skew the data for more funding.

Maybe you think things are different in Germany, but here skepticism is the essence of science. A hypothesis that does not stand up to the data is discredited.

The irony of your comparison is that modern warmists are the ones who actually are clinging to a belief in absence of the evidence. Id recommend that you look into some basic literature on the scientific process, and then maybe you can check back in.

You would think, Der Globale Erwärmung Armee would be able to take on challenges to their "science" with... science. But noooooooo...

Instead we have Der Globale Erwärmung Armee getting the populus excited to the point of having a scientist fear for his safety.

As a German, and hopefully one who has at least learned some of your history, perhaps from watching N-TV or N24, does it not smack just a wee bit of something that happened in your native land before it was occupoed and civilized by Allied Forces? The heavy hand that preceded it, being my focus. To me there are some parallels. Shutting down opposition. Claiming to know the truth (the GW is settled science), and then persecuting those who upset the cart.

Back in the day, it would have been wonderful if there had been an uprising to stop the tide of lunacy. Same is true for today... but it seems scientists on GW have revealed themselves to be somewhat similar to a certain dark age in European history. Narrow and thuggish.

Hard to believe that went over your head, but it obviously did. It was a comparison of heavy handed tactics against those that threaten a certain party.

For criminal perpatrators we have courts and prisons. And your reference to Bundy shows your ignorance. He never stated they were better off as slaves. And your bit about women is interesting. A fantasy of yours perhaps, as I don't know of any society that does it. The closest are Muslims, who deny women just about everything. Come to think of it, these climate "scientists" seem like fundamentalist Muslims. When one attacks their religion, they show no mercy.

When you peel back the layers of the predictions by the IPCC, what do they really predict?
The basic thing is that when CO2 levels double from 280 ppm to 560 ppm,
we should see an equilibrium climate response of between 1.5 and 4.5 C.
To get to this large range, they blended accepted Physics, (CO2s direct response) with
an unquantified concept called Forcing, which is really open loop feedbacks.
Considering that the observed temperature increase for the last 133 years,
is .8 C, and the direct response of CO2 is 51% complete, some of the supposed
forcing should be readily apparent.
Of the .8 C observed, .6 C is attributable to the direct response of CO2 1.2 C.
This leaves only .2 C, in the last 133 years, for all unknown inputs, both natural and anthropogenic.
I made a quick graph showing the limits, low, mid and High, of the predictions,
along with the observed data. not a lot of room for panic.

I am more than familiar with Germany, and the mindset there. You cannot escape references to Klima Erwarmung... they insert it everywhere.

I recall a slow moving system in southern Germany/Austria, and the day before the storm the weather babe explained it so. Well, the storm dumped a mass of water and the autobahn between Innsbruck and Munich was shut down (Austrian side). Of course there were problems all over the south. Then came the flash flood of those blaming global warming. It was a slow moving weather event... but... Zee Propagandists couldn't pass up a chance to propagandize.

I can cut off a few fingers and my thumb and count the number of times you see someone, anyone voice opposition to Klima Erwarmung in public. Wonder why? There is a price to pay if you stray... as the scientist proved.

Let me give you a tip. Open your mind and read things and sources you disagree with.

You see, I was once a "Very Liberal" Lib, but one with an open mind. My goal was to discover what was the best for society over the long haul. After years, I learned the Left relied on deception. They cannot be honest about who they are, where they want to go, or the results of their idiotic policies. Though I disagree with the Left, and their leadership is largely disgusting, I still read and listen to their stuff. I was a listener of Air Amerika... one of the 7 listeners in their audience.

Give it a try for a few years. Listen to Limbaugh and Levin, read sources that you find unpalatable at the moment. After a few years you'll be a more rounded individual... and... You might surprise yourself.

Don't use facts and figures to back yourself up with.

If we ever got to the point that what they claim would happen we would be dead from CO2 poisening anyway.
at a 5% concentration we would start feeling co2 dizziness and other mild effects.
at 10% concentration you would need a breathing machine to walk outside.
at 15% all oxygen breathing life would cease to function you would require constant oxygen to walk anywhere.

you are going to have more to worry about if what they say is true than a few degree's of tempature increase.

however from what i have seen a .8 degree increase is nothing out of the norm from a normal warming trend and .8 over 133 years is nothing.

I apologize for using actual Science to show the need for panic is overstated.
I think it is medium unlikely we can ever achieve the first doubling of CO2 to 560 ppm,
as the cost of hydrocarbon extraction will exceed the alternatives, before we get there.
