Pentagon pushes Manning transfer for gender treatment

Medical treatment is a basic human right, so there's nothing wrong with this in my eyes. And it's not all that expensive.

a prisoner suffering from disease should be given proper medical treatment while in prison. Sexual reassignment surgery is elective surgery which the taxpayers should not have to fund. I would allow him to be given a dress rather than male attire though since it probably costs the same!

Pastrami. You really must take a sex education course again. If born as a boy.....you are... a boy...if born as a girl...you are a girl.......straight, gay, bisexual...it does not matter. You cannot change your gender with surgery.

What is that supposed to be? The Emancipation Proclamation?

Pontification.

just give him an US government document reassigning him as a woman.

a couple of bucks in paper and printing won't break the bank, and he'll/she'll be officially designated as a female.

Which isn't in her oath. You can't choose to become Robin Hood whenever you fancy it, as soon as you put on that uniform its game over for you. You are now a tool trained by the military, at the cost of the taxpayer and you WILL obey orders and follow your oath.

Actually, legally speaking, Manning had a legal duty to expose war crimes (Bradley Manning's Legal Duty to Expose War Crimes

Manning knew they would cover it up? Then why did he put on the uniform?

I'm not saying she knew that they would cover it up, but it doesn't take much to put two and two together and see that as a serious possibility. What does this have to do with her joining the military?

He joined (past tense) the military knowing he would take an oath and would have to keep national secrets. If he was hesitant or mistrusted the US establishment he would should of never joined.

This notion that the military/government release everything to the public is comical, War is dirty and trust me something's need to be swept under the carpet to protect the people you are defending. The public don't want to know how you won they want to welcome home the troops and wave the flag. That is how war has been fought for thousands of years and Bradley is kidding herself if she thinks she has changed anything.

Trust can be eroded my friend. Trust, as you know, is something that can easily be broken and takes forever to rebuild. A loss in trust can cause us to do things that we usually would not.

"This notion that the military/government release everything to the public is comical," I never said that at all.

Well then do you think the world has gained anything by Bradley's leaks?

I had to wiki him buy yes, no doubt.

Remember, remember, the 5th of November The Gunpowder Treason and plot; I see of no reason why Gunpowder Treason Should ever be forgot.

We have firework displays every 5th of November and we Burn an effigy of Guy Fawkes (normally made by local school kids) on a giant bonfire. It's wonderfully medieval

I love it. Perhaps drawing and quartering, while historically accurate might be a bit brutal for school kids. Is this nation wide?

Yep even in the across the wall in Scotland, its a big national night. When I lived in the US for a few years I used to throw a big Nov 5th party and was very popular.

When it comes to fireworks whats not to like?

Come to think of it we celebrate Halloween around the same time, I think the only thing that might improve it is fireworks.

lol I love that you research this stuff when you read posts. Very refreshing.

Although I hope Black Americans know about this before they see the burning crosses lol

A basic human right? You get a cold, you break a bone, sure. Quite different than a chop and tuck…. as some are necessity, and the other is not. Either way, how does that 'basic human right' get to overrule the 'basic human rights' others have to their own property?
