Kidnapped Nigerian Girls

When is 'support' nothing more than a photo-op....

I still think THAT is better than doing nothing at all, don't you? Although it's sad and I wish their own government would do something, and I don't have an issue with showing my support that the girls be returned home safely, I don't think it's in our best interest to really become too involved, so it is what it is.

No...actually...I dont. Giving the pretense of caring is as bad as someone walking up to you and patting you on the head and patronizing you. You still deal with the misery AND you feel like **** because someone just patted you on the head and pretended to care.

And on a global scale? No...I dont think telling the rest of the world that our ever so effective response to atrocities will be sad pandas with pouty mouths and signs.

Pretense on who's part? Just random people online? Myself? The president and the first lady? Who are you talking about?

That's not true. I know at funerals for family members, I was VERY grateful for the love and support I received. Just because you and a few others seem to have a chip on your shoulders, doesn't mean everyone else has to be a negative ninny.

Do you think the kidnapped girls or their captors are aware of those hashtags?

Did you know that since Mo posted her vewy vewy sad selfie, the same people have not only NOT returned the 200 but have kidnapped another 60?

I think their captors are and are emboldened.

We'll have to promote the urgency for Michelle O. to send out more hashtag messages insisting she wants her girls back. That would help everyone's self esteem.

Or she COULD just post selfies with her stank face. I read somewhere that both of these women died less than three days after receiving 'the look'...

I think that there are times when religion can be good, but other times not so much. It's really more dependent upon how fanatical a person is about their religion I think.

I think it's not fanaticalism (is that a word?) that's the problem. It's trying to force one's own views on others, and what you do to force your views on them. You can be fanatical as to yourself, and it's no one's business.

That is not the point. The point was to try and put pressure on the government in any way that an individual possibly can.

Yes, they are bad people. Point being?

True, but normally fanatics DO want to push their views upon everyone. I think that is a part of what makes them a fanatic.
