Geithner: White House Wanted Me to Lie on Sunday Shows

Seems like this is pretty innocuous, all things considered. Silly way to play Gotcha.

Lies are no big deal for you, no pattern here for you.to see.... just a little white lie....

At the time I beleived it too. But then again, I was not issuing the order for thousands of people to die. Are you trying to say those democrats were for the war? What history are you trying to say was rewritten?

How many of the Democrats with posts on that page voted for the invasion of Iraq?

You wanted examples of the LIBS changing the past. i could spend most of the day on this particular topic.

Are you saying a black Santa is rewriting history?

Back to Geithner.

The little tax cheat was told to lie. Shocking.

A little excerpt -- my spidey instincts tell me there's more to this than a snipped quote.

Are you saying a black Santa is rewriting history?

its part of it, I think it ridiculous to talk about this garbage, but hey CNN started this stupid crap.

Here is but one of the tactics employed whenever Obama, and his band of liars and criminal communists gets caught in their own web of lies...

Any of us here that has raised children know that we don't accept an excuse of it's ok because someone else did it too...Why it is that liberal progressives try to pull that **** all the time is beyond me, it seems to be a flaw in their maturing.

except for the fact that you guys ignored this kind of politics until Obama became your President. I never said it was okay because someone else did it. I said it was and doesn't rise to the level of things that you give a pass.

Back to Geithner.

Thank you! I think this is how normal business is done in the WH today....The administration thinks that the public are real stupid idiots...And really, they have a point, I mean they re elected this degenerate liar. But, I think that in every aspect of them running the executive branch they lie. Some for reasons that they think are justified, and some to save their asses, and some just because they believe they can get away with it...Truly sociopathic behavior.

Examples?

Here's a few, Mak. From the 2009 Cairo speech.

As a student of history, I also know civilization's debt to Islam. It was Islam -- at places like Al-Azhar -- that carried the light of learning through so many centuries, paving the way for Europe's Renaissance and Enlightenment. It was innovation in Muslim communities -- (applause) -- it was innovation in Muslim communities that developed the order of algebra; our magnetic compass and tools of navigation; our mastery of pens and printing; our understanding of how disease spreads and how it can be healed. Islamic culture has given us majestic arches and soaring spires; timeless poetry and cherished music; elegant calligraphy and places of peaceful contemplation. And throughout history, Islam has demonstrated through words and deeds the possibilities of religious tolerance and racial equality. (Applause.)

Well hey if you cant refute the fact that this president is the biggest lying criminal ever, throw names. The same ole common left tactic.
`
Pshaw! I don't like Obama and agree he is a liar. But none of his lies cost the US over 4,000 US lives as did the lies that got us involved in the immoral war in Iraq. Obama the "biggest liar? I think not.

You know what just wait till you see how destructive his policies are to america. they keep pushing certain pieces of obamacare further and further out for a reason.

(bold mine) Well, they are kind of stupid idiots. The public tends to be a fan of quotes torn violently out of context in order to flimsily support their beliefs, such as "you didn't build that," "what difference does it make," or the OP that pretty much screams "a lot more to this quote than meets the eye." But hey, context is hard. **** that noise.

They did come up with zero...which one of this things is wrong?

Yep, typical libertarian type. Both sides!! But them democrats - they are the real liars! LMAO.

Let me be clear i did not vote for Bush in either election. I was not and still not a Bush fan. But until you realize that the Office of president is only a puppet placeholder you will not be able to change anything. You keep to your right and left paradigm all you want but i assure you they are working together. To bring about what their masters tell them

I agree with this to a point. It's why I mentioned Geithner's defense of the plutocrats/elites. To him, SS does 'contribute to the deficit' but global behemoths reporting $billions in worldwide profits and paying no U.S. income tax don't. The hedge fund managers paying tax on their income at a rate of 15% also don't 'contribute to the deficit.' But goodness knows SS must be cut because DEFICITS!!! Does spending a $trillion annually on defense and related contribute to the deficit? Perhaps but we must continue THAT - what we can't keep doing is providing benefits for the proles....

Finally, yes there is a small elite that controls much of what happens in DC, but there is a difference between left and right. "Both sides do it" and the like is just intellectual laziness IMO. A country run by 60 Bernie Sanders looks very different than one controlled by 60 Ted Cruz's. The problem, to the extent that 'both sides do it' is what they do is step to the tune of the plutocrats for the most part. And that's nothing more than saying there is no 'left' being represented in D.C. or most states, because the 'right' at the Federal and state level is enacting the plutocrats' agenda pretty nicely when given free reign.

Back to Geithner, SS at that point had reduced deficits and debt by cumulative $trillions, and wouldn't actually contribute on net to the deficit for another two decades. That's a "lie" to say SS isn't the issue?

Geithner: White House Wanted Me to Lie on Sunday Shows | The Weekly Standard

Timothy Geithner, the former secretary of the Treasury Department, says the White House wanted him to lie in scheduled appearances on the Sunday TV talk shows. As Geithner writes in his new memoir:

“I remember during one Roosevelt Room prep session before I appeared on the Sunday shows, I objected when Dan Pfeiffer wanted me to say Social Security didn’t contribute to the deficit. It wasn’t a main driver of our future deficits, but it did contribute. Pfeiffer said the line was a ‘dog whistle’ to the left, a phrase I had never heard before. He had to explain that the phrase was code to the Democratic base, signaling that we intended to protect Social Security.”

Of course, Geithner would not have been the only official from the White House to have misled the American people on the Sunday talk shows. Susan Rice famously came under fire for blaming a terrorist attack on a YouTube video in appearances on the shows.

LOOKs like that is all the admin knows how to do is TELL BIG FAT LIES.

No surprise here. Bush lied, Clinton lied, Bush the Elder lied, Reagan lied, Carter didn't and that didn't work out well for his administration. Nixon lied.

I like the term "Dog Whistle". A very interesting concept. I know it happens all the time in political speeches, but I like the metaphor.

See all those you mentioned they lied like once and it did them in, Obama though? gets a pass for more lies then all of them together.

I can't tell if this is parody or not...:doh

They did come up with zero...which one of this things is wrong?

The printing, most attribute that to Gutenberg.

The pen. Depending on your definition of pen, someone in a cave chewing the end of a stick and dipping it into vegetable juices, or the guy who carved the end of a turkey feather.

Algebra. The only contribution from Islam was the term. Muslims got stuck on negative numbers, a backbone of algebra. Never did figure it out.

The compass. Han Dynasty. That would be China

Navigation. Polynesians, Greeks, other early seafarers. Pick one.

Medicine and how it can be healed. Pasteur and others.

Religious tolerance. Islam is the only religion that has laws punishable by death against any religion other than their own.

Racial equality. See above.

The rest. Buildings, literature. While Islam has certainly built buildings, written things down, and set stuff to music. They were not the first to do so, nor arguably not the best.

As far as cultures go Islam is fairly new. Started around 600 AD or so. All the things Obama attributed to Islam had long been in use by 600 AD.

Sounds like revisionist history to me.
