    Another BLM protest: 4 wheelers driven in restricted area

    The BLM has not closed off the area completely- it is open for hiking and horseback riding. In this particular case, the BLM has not made any endangered / "endangered" species based policy decions that impact the ability of local residents to earn a living.

    Rather, all the BLM did was restrict a particular form of recreational use. In addition, there are hundreds of miles of trails in the general area open to 4 wheelers.

    Anarchy appears to be spreading. Romantic notions aside, anarchy, either left or right wing based, tends to spiral out of control.

    Sounds to me like a bunch of yahoos who think it's their "right" to run their off road machines wherever they want, and peace and quiet along with any historical or other land values be damned.

    Let them take their machines and run them through the city parks in Salt Lake City and see how far they get and how much sympathy they generate for that.

    Civil disobedience does not make one an anarchist or "anti government."

    For the sake of simplistically and disingenuously discrediting their cause, yes, it does.

    Civil disobedience is standing up for rights. No one has a right to drive an ATV or anything else just anywhere they decide they want to go.

    It's a good thing then that they weren't standing up for a right to drive ATVs or anything else anywhere they want to go.

    ?? No? Were they actually standing up for religious freedom? For free speech? For a free press? What?

    Maybe the media hasn't gotten that message yet?

    Protesters in Utah drive ATVs onto federal land — but find no showdown*-*Los Angeles Times

    From the link;
    On Saturday, a dozen sheriff's deputies watched the protest from horseback. BLM officials were not so visible. "They were here, but they didn't wear their uniforms," Sheriff Rick Eldredge said. "They didn't want a clash."

    Antigovernment attitudes in the West have a long and virulent history, and recent public dialogue has remained marked by a threatening tone that prompted past BLM directors to travel with armed security.

    People just can't drive anywhere they want to. There are laws.
