If, when defending your support for Donald Trump, and your response is,
"But but but... HILLARY!!!", then you lost the argument before you even began.
Saw the commentary over this on John Oliver's new show last night. I really liked that the reactions to Sam's drafting. It focused entirely on his abilities as a player, and didn't feel that his sexuality was even important to the discussion. Of course, those were professionals. There was a lot of anti-gay outcry all over the internet, so we don't yet live in a world where gays will be judged irrespective of their sexuality. But it was good to see some part of our society going in that direction.
Liberté. Égalité. Fraternité.
Will he now be judged on his contribution to the sport and not his bedroom preferences?
Edit: Perhaps you are thinking about Kwame Harris? He stopped playing in 2008, but came out after a domestic abuse charge in 2013.
