If US Corporations have stopped making 'stuff', what is the government buying from them?
Guy, this may come as a big shock to you, but a LOT of what our government buys is made outside our borders and imported by our corporations - cars, trucks, televisions, computers...you name it. Those things that we do still produce, the government often buys as well. But the government cannot run without supplies from the private sector.
Excluding cases of crony capitalism within this administration, do you have links to any of this?
I don't need links to prove it - just go to ANY government office, look at any government vehicle, any DOD installation...and ask yourself "did our government make any of the stuff I see itself?" The answer will of course be "NO" - the government owns no factories. Therefore, EVERYTHING you see - from the buildings to the desks, from the tanks to the fighter jets, from the computers to the chairs, every pill and bottle of medicine that Medicare, Medicaid, and the VA dispenses, were ALL bought from the private sector.
So the government is using taxpayer money to engage in "waste, fraud, and abuse"? I have little trust in the government either but do you have links to these potential crimes?
Dude, there's waste, fraud, and abuse in our government just as there is in ANY organization made up of human beings - to think otherwise is the height of naivete. BUT if you've really been around, you'd grasp that our government is actually less corrupt than most. Why? Because of the freedom of our press. The freer a nation's press, the less corrupt the government will generally be.
That said, the government buys ALL its supplies from the private sector...which means that our taxpayer dollars DO go to corruption within the private sector - which is at least as corrupt as the government ever was. If you've got a better idea of how to make things work, though, let's hear it!
