Climate change is here and action needed now, new White House report says[W:46]

"Global warming" has made Al Gore an insanely rich man.

Exactly. But to live as he preaches he would suddenly run out of things he could buy in good conscience.

Re: Climate change is here and action needed now, new White House report says

Are you capable of reading a scientific paper?

Are you capable of reading something like the IPCC's 5th report?

If the answer is yes, and you value your liberty, you should read some of the science before making a strong decision on this. The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.

I've read a good deal, but I'm not a scientist. I can read a medical report as well, but I'm not a doctor. Thinking that you can ignore evidence from those who know more than you is arrogance.

Given this administration stellar record of transparency and honesty, tell me why I should believe them now.

If I did believe it, given this administration stellar ability to fail, tell me why should I trust their ability to solve......anything.

I ask you to read the report.

I ask you to take notice of the actual numbers they come up with.

I think that if you do you will then consider that the headlines that are generated by the IPCC bandwagon are way beyond what the numbers say.

Re: Climate change is here and action needed now, new White House report says

No one said anything about Gods, so please refrain from excessive hyperbole. And I'm not asking anyone to look at the politics. The science is accepted among scientists. And overwhelmingly so. So, you can throw up false conclusions of what you think it means, but at the end of the day, this is in the domain of science. So, your misreadings, false conclusions, and talking head diversions mean nothing next to the fact that this is the view of science.

If global warming is as certain as you claim, then why has the research been falsified by some of those same climate scientists?

Yes, you did:

That's a joke, right?

Climate change IS natural - there is no disputing that.. Do you believe the climate didn't change before humans walked the earth? - if you want to believe that you may as well deny evolution next considering "climate change" played a significant role in the evolution of species.

I also pointed out that man has probably played some role in climate change or climate anomalies, however the role we do play isn't significant enough to warrant this nefarious hysteria.

I claim that man is contributing to a natural phenomena.

I think it is significant. I'd say 10-50% of climate change is anthropogenic. You put man's contribution under 5%?

I've done that, as well as discussing them with actual scientists. They tell me they are quite correct. So, I've investigated, read, considered. What have you done again?

It hasn't been. That was another misreading and over hyped fad you guys went through.

Also, does anyone here know what percentage of our atmosphere is made up of carbon? .03% presently.

I'd put human contribution due to CO2 at under 10% although the effects of human activity at a local level are very often much more than that.

North Africa is a desert mostly due to human activity. Well, the activity of all the goats and camels that humans over graze the land with.

Were there WMD in Iraq?

Well, I have read bits of the report and tried to work out where their numbers come from and used their numbers.

I don't find a 3 feet sea level rise by 2100 scary. I don't find a 3 degree c warming by 2100 scary. So I'm of the opinion that we should invest in research into solar power and stuff but not panic and build wind farms that don't really work. I think we have lots of time to deploy new technologies which we don't actually have at present. Let's wait 'till 2030 before we decide what we need to do about it.

YES IT HAS BEEN AND THESE CLOWNS HAVE BEEN CAUGHT RED HANDED FLUBBING DATA NUMEROUS TIMES.

It even goes beyond that - these assclowns have been caught on tape basically claiming their data was manipulated and epic bull****.

Also, if these propagandists were so damn sure about their science then why are they so quick to dismiss and smash their fellow colleagues who disagree with their propaganda?

These global warming nuts only use 5-10 year sample sizes to support their theories as proof of AGW.... Why 5-10 years and not the 150 or so years of documented climate data or to expand even further geological data? because the long term data proves that AGW is absolute bull****.

That is impossible considering our atmosphere is comprised of .03% carbon.

Re: Climate change is here and action needed now, new White House report says

It's fun how many people actually believe this.

The part I outlined in red? That's the dataset that has somehow managed to convince you ice caps are growing. Meanwhile, the rest of us are looking at a whole chart.
The whole chart is such a brief period of time that it is absolutely meaningless.

Re: Climate change is here and action needed now, new White House report says

As a typical warmist you obviously don't actually like the idea of doing the science thinking for yourself.

The land ice is all that mattes. The floating stuff will never cause any sea level change.

The land ice is growing in Antarctica and the data for the Greenland stuff is highly questionable. If it is melting (overall) at all it's doing it exceptionally slowly. The IPCC's worst case scenario has a contribution of 9cm to sea level rise from Greenland's ice.

The world's climate has not warmed for 15 to 17 years. How long will this not warming have to happen for you to think that the hypothesis of AGW might be wrong?

If it gets colder for the next 5 years will you then admit that it was all a load of bull?

At what point will you think that it's shown to be wrong? That's a science type question.

Thank you.

In ten years this is the first time on a forum that anyone has shown an understanding of sea ice.

Now if we could get the scientific community to understand the difference between a glacier and a semi-permanent or permanent ice field, we would all be much better off. Living two hour's drive from a glacier and having dived them along the coast, I am sick of people from countries that have none telling us how we have to re-invent out economy to fix a problem that has been part of nature for as long as man has living in these mountains at least.

Does anyone want to see evidence of a glacier that's growing?

Actually, yes there were. And maybe still are.

I know that, but I was trying to prove a point.

Bullcrap. They were caught red handed. Stone cold busted.

Those of us who are not brainwashed fools see that very clearly.

I've never been a fan of Bush, but I believe in 100 years or so some dude riding a camel through the desert in Iraq will fall into a hole/bunker and find an epic stockpile of WMD's.

Arabs love to bury **** - they've been hiding stuff under the sand for the last 6 thousand years.

They'll be found in Syria, IMO.

Re: Climate change is here and action needed now, new White House report says

Well, the fundamental problem with these so called "climate scientists" is that they're bought and paid for by governments via grants - so they have no choice but to spew AGW nonsense because if they don't those grants will go bye-bye and these "climate scientists" will lose their funding hence their job.

It's funny how the strong majority of independent climate scientists disagree that global warming is caused by man (or that man plays little role in climate change) yet the so called quacks being employed by government are certain man is responsible (as if the climate didn't change before man)...

The worst part is that these scientists are knowingly being deceptive for monetary or political reasons or they're just downright stupid or pretend to agree because it may cost them their job and their standing within the scientific community.

Real scientists shouldn't be scared to publish their findings even if their findings/research and theories contradict what is "commonly accepted" at the time. Of course tho when it comes to this debate any scientist who disagrees with AGW is smashed like a bug for going against the grain.

And that's the long and the short of the issue.

Climate scientists, who make a very nice living off global warming research aren't going to endanger their jobs.
