The ice caps are growing, and IMO I wouldn't be shocked if in 10-15,000 years Illinois would be covered under a mile of ice again.
I encourage everyone to really take a step back and actually study the history of our planet. The Earth is a mysterious and living being and there is absolutely nothing humans can do to stop Geo's cycles - which as dangerous as it seems some want to do and some are attempting to do it.
Also, given the Earths age - our industrial revolution only happened in a blink of an eye, so attempting to even use data (which btw, doesn't go back that far or is incomplete or non-existent) to determine what effect what impact (if any) humans could have on the environment is preposterous.
Geology is the only means to actually determine how the Earth reacts or naturally progresses and what the geological record has shown is that the Earth is unstable at best and can throw many surprises at us (or living entities that inhabit the planet) without notice and can drastically change our environment in a nanosecond and there is nothing anyone can do about it and nor should anyone try to do anything about it.
