In the southern port of Odessa, one man was shot dead in clashes between supporters of Ukrainian unity and pro-Russian activists, police said. Protesters threw petrol bombs, paving stones and explosive devices during the disturbances.
The U.N. Security Council plans to meet in emergency session Friday on Ukraine after Russia called for a public meeting on the growing crisis there, the Associated Press reported. The meeting will be the council's 13th meeting on the crisis.
