Militia around Bundy Ranch set up checkpoints, demand papers, control taffic flow

Concerns growing about militia members at Bundy ranch - 8 News NOW

So like I said in other topics about this developing story, its gone beyond the unpaid fees for gazing on Federal land and turned into a question of whether or not we are going to allow an active insurgency to operate within this country.

Also, is it more ironic or sad that these folks who claim to want freedom are acting in exactly the manner of an authoritarian?

I read that as Bunny Ranch and the story seemed more interesting.

Actually, they are committing false imprisonment, which is highly illegal. My opinion is that the Feds should just move in and mop up.

Well, it is Bunkerville. It's aptly named. Bundy should negotiate a settlement, pay it, and everybody can go home. Let the state argue with the BLM about who controls what.

It's false imprisonment either way, but have they actually "arrested" anyone?

If they are stopping people at gunpoint, that is false imprisonment, whether or not they arrest anybody.

Yeah, just waiting for the hordes of Bundy supporters to gallop in screaming, "Revoluuuutiooooon!!!"

Totally illegal, stopping people at gunpoint, creating checkpoints, playing soldier in the hopes that they'll finally get to shoot someone so their boring lives will be redeemed in one massive bloodbath that will go down in history with Waco and Ruby Ridge.

Except it'll probably go down in history as Whacko and the Cow Huggers. A couple dozen snipers on the overpass was a bad enough provocation; this is completely out of line.

If they want to stand up for ranchers' rights then it should be those whose land is being seized by eminnent domain for the Keystone XL, not some deadbeat who refuses to pay his bills. Its hard to rally behind a deadbeat.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

I'm aware of that, I was just wondering how far they had gone.

Of course I figure if they actually seized someone then someone would have to do something about them.
