I honestly don't remember. I think that is what set the league off, but IIRC they got her for a general morals clause violation.

I dont think they took the team away from him. Just banned him from games. Lots of buisness owners have never stepped foot in one of their buisness. Might run better that way, Clippers have always sucked.

I don't think this is bad for the NBA. They need the attention, their ratings are awful. I tuned in to the game the other night, and I haven't watched an NBA game in years.

To which they could argue, the of the value of the Clippers had already been injured with the revelation, and that their their team's values was in jeopardy of also being injured if they did not act to protect their assets.

Their assets are independent. When you force a sale, you destroy value. That's why you get things for pennies on the dollar when they're attached to divorce, bankruptcy, destitution, etc.

The NBA for the most part is forced to be heavy handed, their key demographic is black males and so having an owner on tape whether legally obtained or not showing that level of overt racism is a PR nightmare. The commissioner has to do something in this instance and so, we have a permanent suspension and hefty fine. I perfectly understand why this happened, and also don't exactly feel sorry for the guy.

I agree, most of the time. But can't agree when it comes to Sharpton. And he was on his way to the Black Congressional Caucus for a meeting on this. WTF is that all about anyway?

And they won't have to pay the 700 million estimated value, since the NBA is forcing a fire sale.

Whatever is paid for the franchise, the NBA is liable for the difference between FMV and new book price.

Last NBA game I went to was in the Fleet Center in Boston when the Celtics played the Knicks. I would say probably 75% of the stands were white people, not black males.

Oh dear! I'm listening to Dire Straights for background atmosphere. Brothers in Arms specifically. In Money for Nothing, Mark Knopfler uses the word "faggot" at least half a dozen times. So...umm...what should we do? Hold a self-righteousness riot? Let our local central committee organize CD bonfires? I mean, come on people, we have to make those bastards pay.

This is a blatant political play by the NBA. Sterling is a slimy piece of pig **** who should have never have been approved to begin with. The NBA laid down with a dog. . But even he deserves basic privacy.
