The Elio would just be to commute, out of the waether.
It would make a great spare car and fit in your truck bed!

Joking aside, I could actually consider buying one for my commute to work and back.

    $6,800? Why not?

I like it. I'd definitely consider it. Right now I own a motorcycle primarily for commuting because my crappy Taurus gets horrible gas mileage, and because getting a 40 MPG motorcycle is a lot cheaper than getting a 40 MPG car.

However, I'd absolutely consider getting rid of my car and my bike (we'd still have my wife's car) for something like this. I tend to use my car most of the time because it's:

    1) Raining
    2) Too cold
    3) Too hot
    4) Need to pick up a couple of bags of groceries

This would cover most of those times. The few times I'd need something bigger I'd likely be able to use my wife's car.

I think you're right in terms of them being classified as a motorcycle. There's been a few companies I think trying out similar designs, but you may be right that it's the same company with a changing name.

At least a bit farther then you would likely in a motorcycle, where you'd probably just go straight into the gorund.

True. But depending on what you're looking at it for that may not be a big deal. If you want it to replace your SUV that you bought because you have kids and want to keep them safe in a big vehicle, than that's a problem. If you want it to replace a motorcycle for your daily commute, then you're probably actually getting a bit of extra protection. A motorcycle tangling with an F-150 isn't doing well either, but at least in this instance you wouldn't have the added bonus of physically hitting and sliding along the ground.

It would be well over $7000 with tax, title and out the door. Dang you couldn't even fit another person in that thing. At least on a Harley two can ride.

I don't know. Strap him to the top of the roof?

Look, shut up, people are going to need it for an emergency, like a beer run, whatever.

I think I will probably head up to the local dealer to check it out.

I'm making fun of it, but if I were a commuter I'd definitely consider it.

Most of the time isn't it more like a misty type of rain? That wouldn't be a big deal. The only person I know who had a problem with getting a little wet was the wicked witch in the Wizard of Oz. . But even if you could only ride it half the year, still a great savings. What bugs me about that little tin can of a car is being so confined.....a death trap.

Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but I thought there was a second seat behind the drivers seat where a passenger could ride. They talk about it when talking about the trunk space, and how you can put the "back seat" down to get more room for something like a golf bag.
