No, you don't. They are adults. They could just as easily get that book from the store or from a friend. You can choose to give them an ultimatum that either they need to live by your rules or you won't pay for their college, but that only harms their chances for the future based on you being petty, particularly if you are giving them this ultimatum after they are adults and it is based on something like this. Certain rules are certainly expected (make good grades, don't get into trouble, actually work for your degree), but trying to control other aspects of their lives is foolish and harmful. I would say this is in fact true to a certain degree even while they are in high school.

you opinion is not fact. If i pay the bills i define the rules. just like your job defines the rules at where you work.

if you don't like the rules then you are free to live on your own and pay your own way.

again YOU can like whatever you want YOU don't get to define that for other people. something you don't seem to understand.

I have no issue with outside people giving them a copy of the Bible (nonaffiliated with the school). The same for the Koran or the Torah or the Book of Mormon or even "Guides to Wicca". However, the government cannot endorse religions and there is no way to give out one of those and not give out books or at least information on most other major religions without the appearance of endorsing that religion. This is not the case when it comes to novels given out as a discussion tool, as this one was.

No job can legally tell you that you cannot watch or read certain things in your own home. You do not own your children, particularly when they have reached adulthood, no matter how much you may think you do or how much you are assisting them in their education costs. Most parents would be thrilled to be able to help their children pay for college that is going to give them an accredited degree simply because it is much more likely that they will become more successful with that degree rather than being petty about the school giving out a single book to their "child" that they don't even have to read.

Define religion. I think homosexuality is a religion.
Islam is an antiquated religion and needs to either modernize with the times or be completely eradicated.
There are two types of Muslims, terrorists, and their enablers. They need to fix that if they want to be part of civilized society.

Do you really think we (I say "we" because Roguenuke and I have taken similar positions in this thread) are that extraordinarily fickle? But still, a few pertinent points regarding that:

1)If the bible is not actually required reading, then handing out the bible, even by the university, is ultimately not a very big deal.
2)Does the school have a habit of promoting religion? This is something I would think would stand out far in advance during the university investigation process.
3)It is my (hypothetical) adult son. So long as there is no overt pressure to read the bible or else suffer academic retribution, I have to trust that I've raised him well enough to handle such an innocuous pressure.

You know that their position doesn't have a leg to stand on when censorship in their only means of winning.

Idiots with power are still fighting the "homo agenda" I see.
