    No matter the sample size.

You'll find some way to discredit it.
Now you're talking out of your ass. I know you have no intelligent argument against legalizing marijuana, but please don't revert to making things up.

If a proper study were done showing that Marijuana was considerably harmful, I would not dismiss it. This thing in the OP, is not even a study of any kind.

So much for your opinion of how "harmless" marijuana is.
The case in point was harmless compared to alcohol. Diets high in animal fats are linked to cancer and cognitive decline, but they aren't illegal and I bet you wouldn't argue with the idea that they are harmless compared to alcohol.

No I am not. I am arguing that marijuana is harmless compared to alcohol. Marijuana is probably not completely harmless, but its effects are very mild compared to other things that are legal. If it being harmful is the basis for its illegality, then its relative position of harmfulness compared to, say, cigarettes, alcohol, and prescription pain meds is very relevant to the argument at hand.

I do have a doctorate and I also have a much, much better understanding of how to evaluate studies than you. A study looking at an MRI from a single point of time comparing a heterogeneous mix of 20 people in each group in no way proves causality, or even strongly suggests it. At best, you can call this an association. There are a million problems with basing your opinion of whether or not marijuana is very harmful on this kind of study.

    1. Its only 40 people. It is literally impossible to get a mix of 40 people that is representative of the population as a whole.

    2. Its looking at brain imagery and not actually measuring function. This tells us nothing about the real world effect of these brain abnormalities.

    3. Its a single point in time so this doesn't tell us if these brain abnormalities were pre-existing and potentially predispose a person towards marijuana use or if they were a result of the marijuana use.

    4. Comparing the real world impact of abnormalities in brain structure is a brand new field with very little solid research in it.

    5. You aren't even actually reading the study since this is a FOX NEWS report on the study. What were the rates of alcohol use between the two groups? How about other drug use? How about previous family history of mental illness? Was this all self-reported? Who knows?

One of the things you learn in science is how to have patience and not jump to conclusions when you see something that supports your previously conceived opinion.

I presume we'd agree that current policies haven't done much to control it.

    What changes would you propose?

I'm a big fan of the Schaffer's Library of Drug Policy. They have the text of all major drug studies fork the 1890s to 2000 or so. You aren't gong to find amny that agree with the study in the OP.

It isn't a study. A miniscule sample and no peer review is not a study. Why do you not understand that?

Where did the study show marijuana causes harm?
So follow me into the desert
    As desperate as you are
Where the moon is glued to a picture of heaven
And all the little pigs have God
