He should be fine, although I thought that about Conan.

I've never been a big Conan fan. He's okay as a comedian, but I never pictured him as a late night host. He has improved immensely over the years though.

I thought Conan could get it out of the banality of Leno, and to an extent he did.

When Leno was reinstated, Craig and Letterman instantly became more interesting. Fallon....I don't know. He does friendly, but kind of dull well-and he doesn't have to worry about inappropriately cracking up in the middle of a skit.

I really like Kimmel. If Colbert didn't take Letterman's spot, I would think he should be the one to do it. Of course, that's ignoring his contract obligations with ABC.

On his new show Colbert is going to portray a pathetic "stick in the mud" conservative republicon who plays a comedically talented progressive liberal, effectively pretending to be an egocentric racist asshole right wing libertarian similar to BillO.
It may be a little hard for shallow-minded conservatives to follow, but expect at least three layers of diametrically politically opposed personas.

I dont find Fallon dull at all.

Considering that most of the late night interviews are with celebrities....I dont expect much except entertainment because I am not remotely interested in their lives which when examined...are not anymore interesting than anyone elses.

When they do get the politicians or headline makers of the moment, they do (all) seem to change tracks and attempt softball discussion on the issues or event.

CBS names Colbert as Letterman replacement

CBS moved quickly to replace David Lettermanafter the late-night host announced his retirement last week. Confirming speculation, Stephen Colbert, of Comedy Central's Colbert Report, will take over the Late Show sometime next year.

Colbert, whose current contract expires at year end, signed a five-year deal to host the show, which will begin when Letterman decides to step down when his contract expires in August 2015, though he could choose to leave earlier next year.

MORE: Top 10 reasons we're excited about Colbert

"Simply being a guest on David Letterman's show has been a highlight of my career," Colbert said in a statement. "I never dreamed that I would follow in his footsteps, though everyone in late night follows Dave's lead. I'm thrilled and grateful that CBS chose me. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go grind a gap in my front teeth."

Good choice. I like Stephen Colbert. I was thinking they might pick that guy who comes on after Letterman. You know the one with the Scottish accent. I can't think of his name

Well when Oxcy Rush gets his nuts in a bind with some wild eyed rant he retreats to his fall-back 'theater of the absurd'. He is nothing if not consistent.
